    Embracing Freedom: Healing from Within

Living a life of freedom from mental and emotional issues is a challenge yet attainable. It requires tenacity, endurance, and a resolve to be completely and forever free. This book was originally written 17 years ago as a doctoral dissertation project about inner healing and deliverance for hurting women and children from sexual trauma and intimate partner violence, relating the narratives of women who have experienced healing. Although its focus during the initial dissertation process was narrowed to only include African American women, it is about all women, men, and children across all cultures. Considering the trauma experienced by the entire world during the COVID-19 pandemic, its expanded chapters include PTSD and other mental health challenges. It also includes research of other cultures. Though the author writes from a biblical based spiritual perspective, by no means is she implying, it is the only method of receiving healing.

Por Favor Washington D.C. No Me Hagas Daño: Somos El Pueblo 2024

Washington D.C. Please Don’t Hurt Me: We Are The People 2024

I dedicate this book: “Washington D.C., Don’t Hurt Me 2024. We the People,” to all government agencies, especially to the Supreme Court of our country. From 2016 to 2024, we have witnessed abusive events of persecution against former President Donald J. Trump. It is your responsibility to restore Truth, Justice, and Peace to us. Remember: fulfilling the sacred duty of upholding Justice and serving the people “honestly,” regardless of which political party we belong to or which president appointed you to your position. May God Bless our country and enlighten the members of our institutions, always remembering that “transparency in presidential elections” must be respected, and any discrepancies should be resolved according to the law, as was done in the past with Gore and Bush, and other challenges in our country. Not with the compromised words of members of different political parties today. Always remembering
that “Only the truth will put on the virile robe.” -José de la Luz y Caballero.

    Whose Coffee Is It?

I met June Seese in a class on writing fiction. As a teacher, one of my biggest kicks was that moment when the writers first read something they’d written. It was a nervous time-many writers shaking inside, for the first time showing their work to strangers, sympathetic, but nonetheless, strangers. June was remarkable. What has flowered since was already sturdy, strong distinct. She read with a confidence that moved beyond the personal, a faith outside herself in the certainty of her work. Here was a writer who had risen to that essential power where her work becomes necessary to her, a gift as sure and heedless as her pulse. She was right on track, and would move, beyond discouragement or criticism or even appreciation, into the strength, that difficult ease that’s the mark of a writer who will continue regardless, achieving an undeniable, unmistakable voice.

What makes a writer? Originality, a delighted care for language, a commitment to push words into new music and finally into pure emotion. June has these gifts-and her writing’s strengths- toughness, speed, lyricism, observation acuity and, ultimately, a compassion that’s never unsteady, never weak-make her the best kind of writer-impatient, hip, timely and transcending.

    Words Of Expression

In her poem “The Lost Courage,” Tanya Marie Breaud exhibits the style and emotive voice that weaves its poignant way through Words of Expression, her first published collection of verse.

“Hear me when I cry at night,

be Mother’s arms that hold me tight.

Bring me up when I fall down,

Come to me when no one else is around. . .

Listen to the words that I speak,

give me courage when I’m scared and weak.”

With inspiration continuously evolving from her personal experience, Ms. Breaud delights her readers with poetry that tugs at their heartstrings while wringing out their disappointed, wet washcloths of heartache. From high-spirited enthusiasm to sad, distressing loneliness, these poems run the gamut of truth, longing, forgiveness, faith, and hope. Readers will surely find solace in this poet’s words, as well as the reassuring momentum to keep going in life, despite the obstacles placed before them.

In true spiritual observance, Tanya Marie Breaud confides in the Introduction to her book, “All the chances I never took, I’m now taking. For the longest time I have searched for a way to express myself. I finally found my way through Words of Expression.”

It is her hope that her readers will, too!

    The Coming: Hunted

Then, as thoughts of the past cleared, I remembered the same voice that I had heard and trusted since that night on the side of the road as Joe said again,

“Red, you’ve been with me the longest and seem lost in thought; please speak your mind.”

“Well, Joe, Mary, we are it. We aren’t playing games here. This is the real ‘Game of Life.’ Our choices really can mean life or death for Hope and Christian. You, Mary, and I are as deep into this as possible. We all know this and accept the burden. Alice’s letter is the tip of the iceberg to our knowing something, anything, about what we are up against. Let’s see how deep into this game of life we are.”

Mary and I looked at Joe and then at each other as tears flowed down all three of our faces, and if I remember right, I said.

“Damnit, Joe, why did you pick me up that night? That’s right, I know I was probably, no not, I would have died of freezing to death. But Joe, this is so much bigger than we ever thought. And again, I ask anyone who has a clue: “Why, out of all the people in this world, to pick to protect Saviors, God picked us.”

    Lifestyle and Longevity

Over the past century, life expectancy increased from the mid-forties to the mid-seventies. Now, however, longevity is beginning to decline.

Lifestyle and Longevity by surgeon Tom Taylor provides a comprehensive overview for lay readers about the factors influencing longevity, and the strategies that can potentially increase it.

The major killers – heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and dementia – all have causative factors in common that are related to diet, and most interestingly, they share the same foodstuffs.

The book addresses the energy intake and dietary considerations that can overcome or delay development of these major diseases. There is also information on the genetic, environmental, and psychological factors in a healthy lifestyle, and the importance of exercise.

With historically unprecedented amounts of leisure time, along with massive technological advancements, people have become more sedentary and are subject to the damaging effects of fast foods. Many of these life-shortening effects did not occur in the past, but they are reversible.

“In writing this book, I have utilized my lifelong professional experience in dealing with disease processes in the practice of surgery, and have studied in detail intestinal diseases related to diet, including obesity and diabetes.” Dr. Taylor advises on major disease avoidance and treatment.

    Do You Believe In Miracles?

The main source of the stories in this book comes from the experiences relayed to me by our customers visiting the Catholic store which I and my co-partner opened the last years of our careers in teaching. (in preparation for a transition to retirement)

A majority of my shoppers were Catholic, but there were many of other faiths including Protestants, Buddhists, Jews, Muslim and those who described themselves as atheists or agnostics.

Readers of this book may be moved by the expressions of faith by residents of our community. Reared as a Catholic I have had questions of faith. However, I have been deeply moved by the religious fervor and faith of those who have related their experiences to me. It has truly made a difference in my life. My husband, also reared in a Catholic family, has been more skeptical of miracles of those about which we have written. We shared an encounter together in Eloy, Arizona with the “Lady in the Bell Tower” which has had a significant impact on his life, This miraculous event has been witnessed by several hundred people of different faiths and nationalities.

The narratives of miraculous encounters in this book may have an everlasting effect on those who read it and may serve as a segue of common values to a sometimes politically and religiously divided people.

    Carrie and the Little Rose

With my first children’s book, Little Children We Are, published, this is my second children’s book inspired by a valentine date with a college girlfriend after going back to my dorm room. Originally, the title was The Little Rose. I later rented from a young couple born to them a little girl named Carrie Rose who would call me Uncle Lenny. I decided to add a little girl’s name, Carrie, and the story then became a story of Carrie having her mother tell her the story of The Little Rose. Hence, the title Carrie and the Little Rose.

I sat on the manuscript for years, thinking that it may be just a writing for children until I saw artwork. After seeing artwork from the illustrator, Beth Clingan, who her and her now husband, Mark, were college best friends to me. I decided to commission her to illustrate as a book in colored pencil to which she proved it excellently.

Although this book is about a little girl and a rose, it is for girls and boys as the moral of the book is to be the best person you were purposed to be, even if everyone doesn’t seem to notice.

Christianity’s “Big Three” seemingly unbridgeable doctrinal chasms addressed in SOUL BAPTISM are; ‘Sovereignty -vs- Free Will,’ ‘Eternal Security -vs- Falling from Grace,’ and ‘Cessationism -vs- Continuationism.’ Is it even realistic that these deeply held opposing views could be reconciled from the very same Word of God we all hold so dear as the sole basis for our Faith? Author Lucian Gandolfo emphatically says, “Yes”! SOUL BAPTISM unveils a Key for helping to achieve the unity that the Lord has commanded for His Church, in what he calls “divine triangulation.” SOUL BAPTISM offers an enlightening and refreshing perspective from Scripture that is a must-read for every Bible-believing Christian, student, teacher, minister, and even theologian.

The Perils of Beginnings: A Cavazos Historical Memoir

In 1967, the 18-year-old author hopped into her spicy Auntie Eloisa’s new GTO to embark on a road trip from San Antonio, Texas, to Tampico, Mexico. While searching for her baptismal certificate, Auntie shares the history of Narciso, a bold visionary who, in 1793, left an aristocratic life in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to cultivate the 600,000 acres of land awarded to him by the King of Spain. As Narciso’s story unfolds, so do the secrets of the two women. Told with humor and warmth, I delighted in Bernadette’s tales of a cow greeting her while using an outdoor toilet, Auntie dropping her bloomers while dancing with abandon to the mariachis’ music, and a “gentle” horse baring her teeth at the author before riding her into the river. This book is a must-read for anyone who enjoys history, romance, and colorful characters.

Bernadette Inclan does an outstanding job weaving two periods of history to tell the story of her life and ancestor, José Narciso Cavazos, one of the early Texas settlers.

God’s Mighty Hands/Outstretched Arm: God’s Power and Plan for the World

STOP THE WORLD!! I WANT TO GET OFF!! If you feel like this world is spinning out of control and you are stressing out about God not doing anything, then maybe you can find some comfort and hope in this book. I have tried to show that God had a plan even from before creation. He chose to interact with mankind at definite times in history,
Jesus said that He had come so that we could have life and have it to the full. We cannot have that full and fruitful life if we are full of fear and anxiety. The overall lesson we can learn is that God has everything under control. It’s not that everything is falling apart – everything is falling into place, according to God’s plan.

Bread and Butter: Poems of the Spirit

From an early age, I wrote an occasional poem about many varied subjects. I love nature and animals, thus in my youth, I wrote about the world around me. As I got into high school and beyond, I began writing a little more regularly and began to narrow my themes to the religious. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the mainstay of my life, thus the majority of my poems are religious in nature. Jesus Christ is the Bread of life and this concept is reflected in my title, the butter in life, is everything else!

    The Black Phoenix Selah Chronicles

Who am I and why should you read my story? My name is Max Faraday. Nobody is going to believe me, but here I am putting it all down on paper. I am a man of two time periods. Forgive me, this sci-fi stuff is new to me.

A week or more ago, in July 2002, I came home for my 1982 high school class reunion. I was staying with my friend Jamie Scott and his family. On the way home from the reunion, we picked up his kids at the babysitter. Their little girl comes out and bounces a ball that tumbles out of her hands into the street.

Just as we arrived, a car speeds up and my instincts take over. I picked her up and get her out of the way, but I was then hit by the speeding car! Stunned, I wake up in September 1978! I am a thirty-eight-year-old man in a fourteen-old’s body! I can’t tell anyone, or they would lock me up, thinking I’m crazy! I know I would.

So here I am in the eighth grade all over again. When I went to bed in 1978, I woke up in a coma in 2002, wondering about the driver who ran me over.

Trouble in Tangiers: Islamic Incursions, Portuguese Perfidy? 1661

In 1661 Charles II put an end to the diplomatic wrangle between European powers to provide him with a wife. He announced he would marry the sister of the disabled King of Portugal, Catherine of Braganza. As part of the marriage treaty Portugal ceded the strategic north African port of Tangiers to England in return for three thousand English troops to assist Portugal maintain its independence from Spain. The instability of both Portuguese and Moroccan politics and conflict within the city itself forced Charles to send his agent Colonel Luke Tremayne to investigate the general situation and forestall any attempts by Moroccan war lords to undermine English influence. Their possession of an emerald and silver ring becomes crucial to such an end.

Geoff Quaife, born and educated in Melbourne Australia has been a university lecturer, historian and academic administrator spending most of his working life in Armidale in regional NSW. He is the author of academic works on witchcraft and sexual and the fifteen earlier Luke Tremayne adventures.

I Have Not Picked Up My Dinosaurs Yet Today: A Personal Account of Life with Depression-Anxiety Disorder

Helene Meyer grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating from Washington University with a BA, majoring in English and Spanish, she began a long teaching career in both private and parochial schools. All along, Helene struggled with her own private hell: waging a battle against depression and anxiety disorder. Ashamed to admit to anyone that she had these mental and emotional problems, she decided to write down all she had experienced.
Using new emotional/mental strength, Helene wanted to reach out to others who suffer from these devastating illnesses. Instead of doing so by writing autobiographically, Helene chose to use theatrically-styled readings based on her own life. These readings can be done in mental care settings by social workers, psychiatrists, psychologists or among families and friends who want to overcome the stigma of mental illness. In 2011, Helene founded an NPO called “Slaying Dragons” whose mission is to destroy the stigma of mental illness through theater. The website is www.slayingdragons.org. She hopes many people and organizations will reach out to “Slaying Dragons” performances to help those in need. The impact of these readings are overwhelming.
According to Dr. Collins Lewis, professor emeritus from Washington University, this book will help many people who suffer from depression and anxiety.
Proceeds from the sale of this book will go to “Slaying Dragons” to help destroy the stigma of mental illness.
