    A Private Life

    Price range: $3.99 through $11.99

Don’t get me wrong here, I’ve had an amazing life, the last thing that I want anyone to think is that this book, My Private Life, is about sour grapes. I consider myself a true American red-blooded capitalist like all other good Americans. This book is about my experiences growing up, my experiences fighting back and growing up to become the best that I can be.

Growing up black in the South, I felt that I had the cards stacked against me from the start. Despite that, I managed to get an education, join the United States Marine Corps and start a successful company. I’m not afraid of hard work either. I paid for tuition by picking up trash after school, delivering papers before school and working in a shipyard. I owned a boutique, ran and built a successful company from the ground with my own blood, sweat and tears.

There are a million different ways that my life could have turned out, but I wouldn’t change it for anything. This is my story, My Private Life, I hope you enjoy reading my story as much as I enjoyed living it.

Howard Baxter, the heir to a real estate empire, has no interest in seeking or managing wealth. Painting and deflowering Jamaican maidens are his passions. As he combs the streets looking for greater meaning in his pathetic life, it soon becomes apparent that Howard’s journey will not be easy. Bernaldo Lloyd, a member of the Baxter clan, is a medical student who is sensitive to the hopelessness of the Jamaican masses. Inspired by his close friend and Howard’s cousin, Ras Robin Pone, and their ties with the Rastafari movement that calls for social and economic equity, Bernaldo is determined to overthrow the corrupt government. As Howard, Bernaldo and Robin become influenced by The American Black Power and Civil Rights movements demanding equal rights for African Americans, the women in their lives both love and criticize them. But when revolution breaks out, Howard finally discovers a purpose for his twisted life that leads him in a direction he never anticipated. In this tale of love, passion, and self-discovery, three Jamaican men become caught up in a 1960s revolution that reveals injustices, oppression, and a purpose for one of them.

    Price range: $3.99 through $12.99

A Terror from Within is a fictional account of an embedded terrorist cell within the United States. A psychologically flawed middle-eastern student endeavors to attack the United States by any means possible in order to fulfill his misguided destiny.

Yousef Khan devises challenging scenarios and plots putting his injudicious plans into action, with not always the best results. Will he be discovered the next time one of his plots fails, or will he continue to devise plots until he meets with the success that he desires to honor Allah?

Based on real-life intelligence reports and law enforcement bulletins, the story is a no nonsense account of the security realities facing our nation post 9/11. The notion of a rogue group of individuals being able to penetrate and disrupt our society is plausible in the face of the challenges in homeland security that we are facing today.

A Time Of War: Memoir of a Vietnam Medic

    Price range: $3.99 through $10.99

These are my stories from my time serving at the end of the war- but probably not in consecutive order. I am 66 years old as I write this and do feel that time and memory may not be 100%, but I will tell my stories as best I can remember them. May they give insight and understanding to anyone who cares to read them. The experience did change my life, however, I did not directly volunteer, nor would I choose to do it again if I could go back in time. I remember seeing tears in my Dad’s eyes, himself a WWII combat veteran, when I told him I, too, was going to war. My mother openly wept. I promised her I would not take any unnecessary chances-a promise I would later break.

In the story, a rabbit, a crow and a fish, with a wise old owl travel to the Moon and learn all the scientific facts about the moon through their exciting fun-filled adventures. Act of God

    Price range: $3.99 through $14.99

So often we ask, “Where is God?”

In tragedies like cancer, life long disabilities, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, wild fires, famines, earthquakes, and pandemics of late – it is so painfully human to cry out from the darkness with a desperate, yearning soul for an answer to this dire question. In our suffering, it is easy to forget just where He was over 2,000 years ago, and that is on a bludgeoned and bloodied cross where He absolved the sins of the world in His own flesh, mind, and spirit. You see, of all religions, Christianity is unique. We do not presume that we go to Heaven because we have been good. As any faithful student of proper doctrine knows, we go to Heaven – because Christ has been good. And that is the most significant and paramount act of God that can sustain us in the bleakest, most overwhelming times. So the real question should be…will we let it?

In this collection, you will be taken into the depths of human suffering through autobiographical short stories and poetic verses. But from that suffering, you will see the glorious ascension into victory that can only be afforded through this: The unyielding truth, yet amazing grace, of Jesus Christ.

Adam and Steve: The Rules for Men Attracted to Other Men

    Price range: $3.99 through $12.99

In 2015, marriage equality is now the law of the land in the USA. Don’t ask don’t tell is a thing of the past and LGBTQ representations are in movies, television, and social media. Despite these milestones teenage bullying resulting in deaths due to suicide is being documented throughout the USA. Did these teenagers die in vain? Is that attraction a lifestyle or a real authentic life?

Adam & Steve, The Rules for Men who are Attracted to other Men, is written as an easy to read smart, sexy, and provocative road map about male same sex attraction along with this author’s findings that this is a real culture. Primarily this book will speak to three different audiences. One is a same sex attracted male teen or preteen who may be discovering his own sexuality or is being bullied because of it. The other is the adult male who may understand his sexuality, but not his obligation to others who come behind him. The third group is the parent or family member who just wants to be supportive.

Advances in Overcoming Obesity: Is There a Future for Bariatric Surgery?

    Price range: $3.99 through $12.99

Advances in Overcoming Obesity: Is There a Future for Bariatric Surgery? by retired surgeon Tom Taylor comprehensively addresses many of the causes, complications, and treatments of obesity for the lay public.

Despite billions of dollars per year being spent on diets, weight-reducing products, and techniques, few understand the fundamental nature of the problem, its complications, or the strategies available to overcome obesity. These challenges may recently have been radically changed with the emergence of new effective medications, not only for obesity, but for diabetes and other related health problems.

Dr. Taylor tackles the issues of energy intake and expenditure, while describing in detail the most popular diets, such as the South Beach Diet and Weight Watchers. He also explores the psychological and physical constraints of losing weight, related socio-economic factors, and the different types of surgical treatments and their possible effects, outcomes, and complications.

Although large amounts of weight can be lost following surgical treatment, for the first time ever, a group of drugs is now available that has been shown to also provide large weight loss, thereby presenting a challenge to surgical treatments.

    Afro-American Me

    Price range: $3.99 through $7.99

Afro-American Me is a literary collection of my poems and essays written while pursuing an associate degree in mental health/chemical dependency at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. I used to think writing papers about self-inventory and awareness was a way of inducing a severe headache. Boy, was I wrong! I learned so much more about myself than I could ever imagine. Attending college has been more than just a higher education; it’s been a journey of discovering my true purpose and creative talents.

All my college instructors brought out the best in me. One instructor told me, “Always write what you know about.” That advice grew with me, and it’s never failed me. My poetry teacher always challenged me to go deeper with my poems. That advice motivated me to rewrite and revise my poems until they become masterpieces. I will never forget the last thing my poetry teacher said to me: “When you write your book, I’d like to have a copy.” Every poem and essay I’ve written has a personal connection-something I know about, a personal experience, how I feel, or my opinion about something.

    Agatha and Frank: New Adventures

    Price range: $3.99 through $19.99

Agatha and Frank had been on a road for the last year and a half going across the Central and lower parts of the USA. But now it was time to go find a new place to leave. Houston, TX had been their home since they had returned from the island. But it just wasn’t home anymore! They loved their kids, but after the last storm, and their house getting flooded, twice! It was time to find a place where the weather wasn’t so extreme. They both agreed Oregon would be the right place. A friend of Aggie’s (Larie) needed to sell their house, so they offered it to them for a great price. Larie had lived there for over 20 years, they wanted someone that would love it as much as they did.

During their travels they had visited and explored many places. As far as Agatha (Aggie) and Frank are concerned, traveling in their RV to see this wonderful country of ours, was the only way to go! It was fantastic waking up in the same bed every morning, and then walking out of their RV to a new place, view, and new things to explore. Never knowing what they will discover in the new area. There were always so many things to see and do during their travels. But it was time to have a place to call home. With their “New Adventures” just over the horizon.

Agatha and Frank’s Story: Stranded on Rosland Island

    Price range: $3.99 through $10.99

Agatha and Frank finally retired and planned on sailing around the islands off the east coast, for a few years.  But that dream was put on hold went they got shipwrecked on an island.  It wasn’t just any island they learned in time.

They were stranded and there was nothing around as far as they could see.  This book is about their discoveries and their adventures on the island.  Agatha kept journals, with the hope of someday they would be rescued.  This is from her journals.

They called the island Rosland Island.  They learned later it was once a mountain range connected to a mainland, and as time passed the mountain range sank into the ocean.  Only Rosland Island was left, where once a land mass had existed.  The island has two mountains on it, one at each end.  There are many stories to tell about Agatha and Frank’s adventures, and about who lived on the land mass, besides the Merbeings.

This is important to know, because of everything they discovered!

    Aging Well 2020 and Caregiving

    Price range: $3.99 through $10.99

This is the newest and most comprehensive book on both subjects, not technical but conversational and sometimes even humorous. Most books on aging are written by those aged fifty or younger who never experienced the senior years. The authors of this book are 80 and 90 years old. They talk about aging and caregiving from the Old horse’s mouth.

Walter Oleksy, 90, author of more than thirty books and a former Chicago Tribune feature writer, reports the latest medical achievements for Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other afflictions of the elderly. From his own experience as a caregiver, he offers advice on caregiving and nursing home visiting. Avis Carlson wrote a weekly newspaper column on aging for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch when she was 80. She tells about the cons of aging: identity problems, self-esteem, aloneness; and the pros of aging: freedoms in aging, acceptance of age, sex and aging, achieving religious growth, laughing at life and death.

There was a dead body found in a parking lot of a convenience store. It was said to be a gruesome sight to behold. It was so distorted that it wasn’t even recognizable. There was nothing on it that could link it to someone. No identification was left on it. No cell phone or wallet or anything of the sort. It only had some clothes on it that were so torn up and destroyed that they didn’t even look like any clothes anymore. They did not cover anything at all. The only thing covering the body was blood. The man’s own blood. That was oozing from all over his body. Because it was as if someone had tried to skin him alive. Or dead. There were no witnesses to tell what exactly happened.

His face was unrecognizable. His fingerprints were shaved away. There was nothing linking him to his identity. So it had taken a lot of time to even investigate who the victim was, let alone the murderer. An artificial face reconstruction had to be done to know who that was. But even when police had identified the victim, they still had no clue who the killer was. He had left no clue behind. At that moment in time, everyone just wished that he wouldn’t be looking for another victim.

All About Life: A Black Man’s Journey

    Price range: $3.99 through $7.99

With an intensity of understanding and a straightforward wisdom, Johnny Albritton, Jr. writes poetry that is, indeed, All About Life.

In this, his debut collection of published verses, Mr. Albritton examines the spiritual and physical life of man, and how one deals with each from day to day. His poems burst forth with images about everyday life that range in theme from criticizing apathy to celebrating one’s newfound relationship with the Lord. It is not often readers of fine religious poetry get to absorb a man’s vision of the world that is not condescending but uplifting in its intent. Johnny Albritton, Jr. certainly achieves that, and much more.

The poet recognizes that he and his readers have to answer to God every day, but how to do that is the key. Are hearts opened in joyful song? Or are the lower depths of society, those that can only cause harm, sought out? In poems such as Job the Man” “Chasing After the Wind” and “What’s Going On? ” to name but a few, Mr. Albritton’s keen wit, sensitive lament, and defined optimism are clear. In others, such as “What Happened to Justice? ” and “A Prayer for Mankind” he continues to boldly clarify today’s state of affairs as he sees it, whether good or bad, right or wrong. Whatever your present state of mind, the poems in All About Life, by Johnny Albritton, Jr., have that unique ability to entertain inform and enlighten.

Johnny Albritton Jr, grew up in New Jersey, attended Lincoln Tech Trade School, and later served in the United States Navy. An athlete when younger, he earned a four year scholarship to Tennessee State University before enjoying his lifelong self-employed business of appliance refrigeration and air conditioning service. He also enjoys inventing and of course writing poetry from his home in Florida.

    Price range: $3.99 through $8.99

Higginbotham, after a near fatal, debilitating car wreck, regains consciousness after an extended coma and is now catapulted back into the stream of life. Here, Riley Higginbotham is joined by Ted L Carroll (author of The Weathering of Strawberry Ben, The Strawberry Ben Spiritual Workbook, and Illegal Jesus) to co-author this work, Higginbotham’s writing debut. All Riled Up, although fiction, is the parallel story of mid-thirties Rave, his fiancée Annie, Brode (Rave’s best friend), Kade (Rave’s son), Milly (Annie’s mother and Rave’s very own ‘Mrs. Robinson’-esque obsession ). Between Rave’s near-death experience, Brode’s relentless friendship (despite his severe alcoholism) and Kade’s early years’ survival, one can only wonder if Annie’s dragon-chasing habit will kill her – or everyone – involved.

    Almost Heaven

    Price range: $3.99 through $19.99

Almost Heaven was originally titled Ballengee. I wrote during the early 80s while driving an eighteen-wheeler across the fruited plain of America and Canada. The characters of Almost Heaven are based on my memories of folks I knew while spending time with my summer parents on the farm in Ballengee, West Virginia. My Summer parents were named Lester and Fonda Lively. Ballengee was a farming and dairy country filled with unique folks. I started going there in 1954 and continued each summer until 1965. I always thought fiction was born of truth, and I filled Ballengee with fictitious characters from impressions of the folks I met there. The storyteller of the work never revealed his name, but if he had, it would have been Ragamuffin. It was a name given to me by Lester when asked who the little boy was hanging around him in the summer. Lester said, “Why, he is my Ragamuffin.” Ballengee is a real place, and I turned it into a small town filled with interesting folks who made it Almost Heaven.

    Amazing Grace: Grace Infinie

    $9.99

In two thousand twelve, I do not remember the month and the date but I truly remember a dream that I had. I saw heaven was very beautiful the blue was extremely brilliant and in the middle of heaven I saw “Amazing Grace” and I saw it in French as well “Grace Infinie” both were written in white color. In the dream, I saw some ladies stood up beside me and I said to them you don’t see “Amazing Grace” writing in heaven, they said no we do not see it, I continually told them you don’t see “Amazing Grace” writing in heaven they said no we don’t see it.

I continued to say the same thing and they did not see what I saw until I woke up.
