Sixteen Thousand Six Hundred Eighty-Five Sunrises: Dad Stories

Sixteen Thousand Six Hundred Eighty-five Sunrises is a collection of humorous episodes concerning the life of John Estall Berry Jr. Most of the time, I was a willing participant in these, as I like to call them ‘Dad Stories.’ Dad only lived a short time here on earth, but each day he lived was filled with fun, as well as some not-so-fun teaching moments. Over the years, our family has recounted our memories and smile, cry, or simply laugh ourselves silly. Minus a smidge of poetic license and perhaps just a hint of exaggeration by the author, these stories are

as truthfully told as can possibly be.”

I guess that’s why they say family will always protect each other from the things that the outside world has to offer and though we always may hurt each others feelings and know that were all crying on the inside we will always create a protective coating to shield each other from showing it off on the outside but everyday seems perfect until you see who they really are on the inside but the one thing that everybody fails to realize is that they wouldn’t and wont trade in their imperfect families or imperfect lives for anyone or anything in the world and you sometimes just have to learn how to endure a lot of things in order to enjoy these types of things and or comforts in our lives my life maybe messed but its perfectly messed but most importantly so is every body else’s life.

Leaning on the memories of a happy marriage, and remembering the goodness of God, she found the strength and will to move forward and discover her own identity. My Father My Cousin

I finally understand what my great grand uncle was warning me about, “Do not limit your Potentialities.” The family is simply the trampoline from which I would move forward to become the best that I could be. I think that I finally got it. Why should I limit myself to the limit of the visible? Why should I only consider what is close to me? How could I grow if I keep taking only what is near. I then realize that it is better to broaden one’s horizon than to be stuck in a particular place while the world is constantly changing and offering better alternatives.

Still Standing : A Personal Journey to Find the Heart of God and to Restore Mine

Growing up in a prairie farm family, with a very close-knit church community, Paull Vollmin is raised to believe that a Christian should be different. But somehow, even though the Bible tells him that he has changed when he’s accepted by Jesus as his savior, he doesn’t feel changed. And as Paul enters a rebellious stage, he starts to indulge his own personal failures, losing touch with his faith and living a lie after lie. One day, as a young husband and father, he just can’t sustain it any longer and finds himself hospitalized for severe depression and considering suicide as a viable way out. Still Standing is Paul’s personal story of coming to terms with the past and present in light of a faith in Jesus Christ. Be forewarned, his journey is no idealized picture of what a Christian should look like, but a discovery of how a real life, warts and all, can be transformed by a real God. In frank and frequently very funny fashion, Still Standing provides full disclosure in its chronicle of God reaching into the darkest corners of a man’s being, to bring light and healing to a life of faith gone wrong.
