    Call of Angels

‘Call of Angels’ is a novel for readers who are willing to explore the boundaries of harsh reality and fiction – a combination that will stretch their imagination and emotions, as Rasna fights to survive amidst personal and natural adversities, through which there is one constant factor – Marks and Rasna’s unwavering and unconditional love.

As COVID-19 ravages the world and the daily death toll rises, Rasna is reminded of another time and place when she had been caught in a somewhat similar cataclysmic occurrence.

The lockdown creates a backdrop to flashbacks in which Rasna relives the Tsunami of 2004 which had swamped the world. She, with her family, had been on vacation in Sri Lanka when the tsunami had struck, and so had consequently become entangled in natures web of disaster in which she had not only lost but also become reunited with loved ones.

Whilst reading the Call of Angels, you will walk alongside Rasna and Kirti her sister, as they pit their strength against not only their convictions and resilience against natural tragedy, but also against their personal convictions, mystery, treachery, betrayal and involvement in the ongoing political unrest.

Called to Discipleship: Turning to Christ with Full Purpose of Heart

    Called to Discipleship
    TURNING TO
    CHRIST
    WITH FULL PURPOSE
    OF HEART
Following Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection, He met with several of His disciples on the shore of the Sea of Galilee as they came in from fishing, Peter’s former career. Confusion is apparent regarding what they should do following those two events that tested their faith and changed their lives forever. Christ posed a powerful question to Peter: “Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these?” It was not a question about fish, but about devotion.
Peter answered that he did love the Lord, and Christ replied, “Feed my sheep.” He asked the question three times. In doing so, Christ was clearly testing and reawakening Peter’s commitment and calling him once again to a life of discipleship.
Peter had been called to follow the Lord-and so have we all. The unanswered question for each of us is this: Will we, like Peter, turn to Christ with full purpose of heart?
This book explores the essential relationship between love and discipleship.

    Cappuccino with Grandma

“Cappuccino with Grandma” is a narrative carefully and stylistically presented to reflect beautiful and memorable moments spent with her Grandma. It portrays love shared between Grandma and the Grandchild.

It sets a reader on a plane of wanting to experience and feel such loving moments. Interestingly, in the narrator’s artistic nature, she employs nice pictorial representations such as Rialto Bridge, City of Venice, San Marco Piazza etc. These memorable pictures make the story appealing, enjoyable, interesting and permanent.

The choice of language also is simple and understandable, spiced with figure of speech evidently seen in her unique use of repetition; ‘sip, sip’ in almost all the tables. This piece will be enjoyed by children.

Make available this short story to your child to enjoy the beauty of

    storytelling and feel Grandma’s love.

    Caregiving: My Story, Your Guide

This book is about the author’s personal experience as a caregiver, how he became one, everything he learned along the way and what a wonderful life two people can have together regardless of the situation.

The author wants to share what he learned; information from doctors, insurance companies, the pharmaceutical industry, disability claims and a number of other important issues including positive thinking and a happy life. His real life experiences have been “battle” tested in the totality of caregiving.

The information he shares relates to all caregivers and many situations; from diseases, accidental disability and war wounded veterans. He further describes how one caregiver, over a period of 24 years, was able to maneuver across the “battlefield,” still survive and not succumb to battle fatigue.

Someone else’s knowledge about something negative can make things more positive for you…and that is an important part of what this book is about.

Many books out there are a wonderful collection of data compiled from the internet and government sources and provide answers to many issues. This book covers the “must do” items which are based on his experiences that can be used as a reference guide and adapted to your individualized situation. Every patient is different and in order to earn the “Caregiver of the year” award, you must find what works best for them.

The most important issue is to realize that a severely disabled person needs to be treated with respect and dignity. Unfortunately, too many handicapped patients are disposed of like a useless piece of furniture or parked out of sight at some poorly run institution. What would you want to happen to you, should you ever be disabled as a result of an accident or disease?

REMEMBER – it can happen to anyone – anytime, including YOU!

CARMI’S LOVE STORY: How Ted and Ruth Ann Made the Word Marriage, “Extraordinary”

    THE GIST OF THE STORY

This is not a story about a movie star, a famous politician, or a corporate billionaire. It’s a narrative of the lives of two “normal” kids in a small town and how they fell in love and then overcame overwhelming odds to be an example for all of us of what true love and commitment to each other look like.

    -Ryan Jorstad

    ————

After graduating from Illinois with a degree in physical education, my first teaching job was in the Dixon school system. I was also the new basketball coach. The school was in the northwest corner of Illinois, not far from the Wisconsin border. Some people in the area knew of my being with the Milwaukee Braves (a very short stint in the summer of 1958), which led to invitations to speak at some high school athletic banquets in the area. It was very surprising that after some of those speaking engagements, someone would tell me, “Coach, you ought to be a minister.” I never thought much of that comment the first or second time I heard it. But it kept happening. After the fourth time, I told my roommate, who happened to also be a new teacher at Amboy and an assistant football coach. He said, “I feel the same way. You ought to be a minister. You would be a damn good one, too.” This past June, I completed my sixtieth year in the ministry as a pastor in the United Methodist Church.

    Carrie and the Little Rose

With my first children’s book, Little Children We Are, published, this is my second children’s book inspired by a valentine date with a college girlfriend after going back to my dorm room. Originally, the title was The Little Rose. I later rented from a young couple born to them a little girl named Carrie Rose who would call me Uncle Lenny. I decided to add a little girl’s name, Carrie, and the story then became a story of Carrie having her mother tell her the story of The Little Rose. Hence, the title Carrie and the Little Rose.

I sat on the manuscript for years, thinking that it may be just a writing for children until I saw artwork. After seeing artwork from the illustrator, Beth Clingan, who her and her now husband, Mark, were college best friends to me. I decided to commission her to illustrate as a book in colored pencil to which she proved it excellently.

Although this book is about a little girl and a rose, it is for girls and boys as the moral of the book is to be the best person you were purposed to be, even if everyone doesn’t seem to notice.

Carter and Ryder: My Little Brother has Autism!

This story is about my two grandsons, and one of them has autism. My family’s story is no different from other families that are dealing with autism, but I am telling our story so that others will know that they are not alone.  My daughter never talked to me about Ryder until I kept noticing things about him that were different. I was scared to ask her if she thought something was wrong. Ryder is the best kid ever, but something was wrong. I initially thought he was deaf because of the way he spoke. It was never really clear, and since I was around several deaf people, I assumed that he might be deaf and he needed to be tested.  The School of The Deaf and Hard of Hearing asked that we have him reevaluated. Then we came to learn he was not deaf but had autism. I insisted that he was not until my daughter said, “Mom, I think he is because I’ve been noticing things about him that are different.” She also said she has friends who have children that were autistic and they have the same issues. That’s were our story starts-by telling others not to give up but support each other and find the tools to help their autistic child have a normal life.
