    The Spanish Teacher

Winner of the Gival Press Novel Award

“…De la Cuesta’s novel maintains an accumulating power which holds onto a reader’s attention not only through the forceful figure of Ordóñez, but by demonstrating acutely how ordinary lives are impacted by the underlying social and political landscape. Compelling reading.”

    -Tom Tolnay, publisher,

Birch Brook Press and author of Selling America and This Is the Forest Primeval

“Barbara de la Cuesta’s The Spanish Teacher has everything to thrill you-pace, a great balance of description, gesture and action, charmed, perfectly-tuned dialogue, and most notably, a character we follow as closely and sympathetically as if we were living right there inside the story with him… So many books show us a character who seems to capably hang and move like marionettes from the strings of a fairly competent puppeteer, but rarely do we see a full drama like this, where every bit of the writing extends from, grows out of, is part and parcel with the author’s complete realization of and connection to her character…”

Many times, the Christmas they remember best was when they were poor, perhaps out of work, alone, and with little hope. Yet, they felt the spirit of Christmas within them that brought new hope.

Their stories can inspire us today who are coping with global terrorism, violence and, for many, physical, emotional, or economic concerns that are especially hard to deal with at Christmas. If you’re alone, you can spend Christmas with those of the famous who know what that is like.

We’ve Done Them Wrong: A History of The Native American Indians and How The United States Treated Them

“From the mountains, to the prairies

To the oceans white with foam,

    Every Native American

    Must leave his home.” I.

Imagine that someone comes to your home and forces you at gunpoint to leave. Your response might be termed “savage”

“Savage” was how the New World invaders described American Indians. Settlers chased them across the continent, as the government signed treaties that they later broke. They also subjected the native inhabitants to horrible atrocities.

Author George E. Saurman, a World War II veteran and proud American, explores what really happened to Native American Indians, examining

    • Native American Indian tribes and their customs;
    • the actions of early settlers, including William Penn and his holy experiment;
    • contributions of the Native American Indians; and
    • conditions on reservations today.

Saurman also considers how the Bureau of Indian Affairs handled relations between natives and settlers, as well as what Native American Indians from the past and today have had to say about events.

Even today, broken promises obscure what’s really going on in Native American Indian Communities, It’s time that a serious effort be made to rectify the situation, and it starts by realizing that We’ve Done Them Wrong.

    Parables for Purposeful Walk

Parables For The Purposeful Walk follows in the tradition of Jack Worril’s first two books, “Parables for Plain People” and “More Parables for Plain People,” offering brief devotional messages for daily encouragement and inspiration. It was in the metropolitan Atlanta area that he made his living, raised his own family, carried out his various ministries, and witnessed the events and news items that have served as the basis for his writings. Since 2012, Jack’s ministry opportunities have expanded to include medical and evangelistic missions to Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Myanmar and Brazil, as well as several local Mission projects. Each of these personal experiences has added new perspective to the concept of walking the Purposeful Walk, and contributed to the enrichment of Jack’s observations of the working of God in the everyday lives of those with whom he has come in contact. The result is a collection of articles composed with the objective of focusing the readers’ attention on the Presence of God in each day’s events, whether personal, local, or worldwide. Jack’s desire is that these Parables will serve to give encouragement, guidance and inspiration to each one who engages in the purposeful walk through life.

Don’t Give Yourself Away, But To God Only

This book is about making the mistake of giving yourself away to others, forgetting about your life and discovering that somebody “almost or got away with your life” leaving you empty, lost, possessing low self-esteem along with little marketable skills to obtain and maintain a life-style. The main points focus on men or women innocently becoming engulfed in a relationship, whereas, not putting God, first, but, in general, “man”. Another main point is discovering who they are in Christ, Jesus, and how God views your past actions and what HE expects of your future actions, forfeiting and forgiving all dilemmas of the past.

The Fire Club: A dangerously humorous journey with a regular crew of irregular firefighters.

Cole Walker, an inexperienced fire captain, is cruelly baptized into fire life when he is ripped from his air-conditioned desk job and plunged into the command of an obstinate crew of four mischievous firefighters. Walker’s book-smarts do not prepare him for tumultuous firehouse life, or the vivid horrors of his dangerous profession.

Cole Walker finally realizes his life-long dream when he is promoted to fire captain, and takes the place of a highly respected, veteran captain. Ironically, Walker has never held a command nor even worked in a firehouse! His entire career has been safely sheltered behind the insular walls of headquarters. Rookie Captain Cole Walker painfully discovers he must lead his rebellious firefighters through predicaments he’d never experienced before. In his cathartic journey to prove himself as a worthy field captain, Walker discovers that he must fight more than fire.

His firefighters despise him for his lack of experience, they quarrel and plague him with vicious pranks. A rival captain and nefarious mayor torment Walker through public humiliation, while a mirthful young coed from the ladies Auxiliary sparks a contentious rivalry. In between station conflicts, Walker and crew are deluged with deadly fires and agonizing rescues. Walker and his firefighters struggle to survive the volatile incidents that assail them from both inside and outside the firehouse.

Amid the dangers and persistent firehouse hazing, Walker must allay firefighter rivalries, survive career sabotage, mend broken people, and make command decisions that could easily kill himself and his crew.

    Kirk’s Poetry

I want to dedicate this book to my son Christopher, who joined the Lord

July 4th of 1996. He had cancer the age of 9, and was a fighter for 4 years.

He made everyone smile, and always kept us on our toes. He loved music

and going out for pizza. He also loved the Lord and proclaimed Him until his

death in 1996. He was a strong boy and always knew what was going on.

And he has been the inspiration for this book, he loved listening to my music

and loved all the different types of poems I wrote, whether Christian, love, or just

fun poems or songs. He was a big inspiration for my new Christian cd which is now available.

A young boy who didn’t really have a chance in life, but he enjoyed it to

the fullest. That’s why this book is about him, he was there and helped me with all that

was written in it, because he just plain enjoyed life, and he helped us to do the same.

I have some poems that are about Christopher in Chapter3..

We all love and miss you Christopher you were and still are a great inspiration

to all the people that your heart touched, which was many people,

We will meet you in heaven.

    More Than A Conqueror

Life was different back in the day. Community was vital. Childhood antics, teenage exploits, and the challenges of young adulthood revealed I didn’t know what I thought I knew. Through all of this, the greatest influence of my life was my mom. She helped me process the good and the bad. Instead of being one-dimensional live, love, and laugh with the great intention and anticipation of more. As she is no longer with me her words and laughter linger on, and I am emancipated. I learned that the greatest gift of life was and truly is love; unpretentious, nurtured, and existing to be shared with others.

God and Choice and Life or Death

I define this choice as an established, intangible mechanism at the core of our being, which our will for our lives through the spoken word of our mouths activates. This choice is sometimes ignored and/or unrecognized; however, it is always present and available to us. Its purpose is to deliver us (our spirit man) into the hands of freedom, a place within us where we are always safe, where we are sane, and where we recognize the greatness that is within us through Christ Jesus, our Lord. This is not the freedom of footloose, wild, and fancy free, but it is the freedom of kings and priests. Its freedom enables our responsible right to us. We understand that God is responsible and the only right (Deut. 32:4), and only through Him can anyone obtain rights. No one has the right or God on his side to do anything unless it is through Him. This is the basis of truth. In John 8:31-32, Jesus said, “If you continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” First, He instructs us to continue. We cannot pick up the Word of God and put it down with yet still the expectation of receiving what it says. Our continuance in the Word is the key to our forthcoming knowledge and revelation. Jesus said, “Then are ye my disciples indeed” Disciples are disciplined ones that recognize the order of God and will themselves to carry it out. These orders carried out are the physical evidence of the disciplined spirits, willed from the soul (mind). This is the order of God. When your spirit (heart) is disciplined toward God, your soul wills your body to follow through.

Catch Them Young: A Key To Winning Children To Christ “Book For Every Home

They didn’t know that the quiet child who was growing up was the one whom it was said that all things were made through Him and without Him was not anything made that has been made; And that in Him was not anything made that has been made; and that in Him was life (Zoe) and that He was the light of men

The whole world has been expecting a superman. The first superman came as a root out of the dry ground. No one recognized Him. No one knew that God could manifest in the flesh. They didn’t know that the logos of God who had been with God, and who was God – Proverb 8:22 -30, could have been with them when they were still looking elsewhere.

The world has not known that there is a superman in their midst today. They don’t know that every new creation is a supper man in the embryo, that all embryo needs is to know what it is, what it can do, what the Father expects it to do, and what the Father has empowered it to be and to do in the world.

Princess Diana 2020: A Quest For Love

The Princess Diana story lives on.

Diana’s youngest son, Prince Harry, now 35, made headlines in late 2019 by saying his “greatest fear” is that because of several years of tabloid bullying of his wife Meghan Markle, she is being hounded like his mother was, and “history may repeat itself.” The royal couple had just sued a London tabloid for publishing Meghan’s private letter to her estranged father that fans the flames of their personal family feud. Prince William echoes his brother’s fear for Meghan’s and his wife Kate Middleton’s mental and physical health and safety.

Other Diana biographers have told pieces of the jigsaw puzzle of who she was. This book puts all the pieces together for a more comprehensive emotional portrait of the beloved but enigmatic Princess 22 years after her tragic and unexpected death at age 36 in 1979. We learn more about her through knowing about the thirteen men who were in her love life as she was on a quest for love all her short life.

We also learn about a woman who was Prince Charles’s “other mistress,”  besides Camilla Parker Bowles, whom other biographers have not mentioned.

Outlaws are Optional: Book IV of the Cruickshank Chronicles

As CEO of the world’s most successful outlaw band, Don Orlando should be laughing all the way to the bank, but he’s not laughing today. An exiled duke, complete with toadies, minstrels and huntsmen has set up camp in the forest, just a short ride from outlaw headquarters, and that’s the sort of thing that plays hell with the asset-redistribution business. And the busy seasons just about to begin. In desperation, Orlando turns to Mission Implausible, Albion’s premier adventure team. It’s true that their appetite for beer and gratuitous violence is notoriously insatiable and it’s also true that Andrew Cruickshank, their mage, combines the efficiency of the postal service, the predictability of the weather and the destructive potential of a strategic nuclear weapon, but hell, what have you got to lose? Quite a bit, actually.

While Cruickshank studies the Shakespeare play As You Like It for clues on how to get rid of exiled dukes, his Designated Opposite, the black mage Montmorency arrives on the scene and begins to start stirring things up. As if that were not enough, Titus Handcarte, the First Speaker of East Castellian, wants to put Don Orlando out of business by establishing a Rural Roistering Experience in the outlaws forest and has persuaded usurping Duke Roger to spearhead this operation.

Things do not look good for Don Orlando, caught between an exiled duke on one side, and a usurping duke backed by East Castellians army on the other. But Mission Implausible is up to the challenge. They can, and do, call upon gratuitous violence, improbable disguises, forgery, blackmail, dubious transvestite rituals, shameless piracy of Shakespearean plots and occult incompetence. Handcarte, usurping Duke Roger and exiled Duke Frederick don’t stand a chance, especially when Montmorency is persuaded to lend his formidable occult and diplomatic skills.

Clouds Over Pemberley: Sequel to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice

CLOUDS OVER PEMBERLEY, Temptation and Temperance, is a sequel to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Reverend Mister Collins researches a new sermon which tests the marital fidelity of newlyweds Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam Darcy, Jane and Charles Bingley and others in the Bennet family. The sermon is at the urging of Darcy’s dowager aunt Lady Catherine de Bourgh who believes Elizabeth and the other Bennet’s are inferior in class to her and her nephew Darcy.

Collins’s research is conducted with the help of a tantalizing handsome young couple from Ireland that Collins assigns to entrap the Darcy’s, Bingley’s, and Bennet’s.  What George Wickham and his wife Lydia are up to is very modern. Also off-kilter are Elizabeth’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bennet. It’s an 1812 Regency serio-comic romantic romp spiced with some of today’s looser morality. Jane Austen might think it a bit naughty, but nice.

Peculiar Affinity: The World the Slave Owners and Their Female Slaves Made

The theory of peculiar affinity implies that Black people and White people in the 21st-century United States are connected by family, kinship, surnames, and genes. Peculiar affinity is profoundly implicated with racism in the United States. Peculiar affinity remained after the demise of slavery, but it transformed and adapted to the system of separate but equal. Peculiar Affinity: The World the Slave Owners and Their Female Slaves Made presents the discovery of a vital socioeconomic interconnection and interrelationship between White slave owners and enslaved Black women of the antebellum South during the second slave era of the 19th century, the domestic slave era. This interconnection and interrelationship consisted of a very strange dialectic of sex, which led to the reproduction of the bodies of the slave owners and their female slaves.

On a grand scale, and implemented on a consistent basis, this dialectic of sex transformed to a nexus of sex and reproduction of human bodies as commodities. The visual aspects appeared as a kind of veil that obscured actual family and kinship relations. In the antebellum South, the slave owner was the father, and the female slave and his wife were the mothers. The children from the slave owner’s female slave and the children from the slave owner’s wife were real and objective brothers and sisters with the same biological father.

    Aging Well 2020 and Caregiving

This is the newest and most comprehensive book on both subjects, not technical but conversational and sometimes even humorous. Most books on aging are written by those aged fifty or younger who never experienced the senior years. The authors of this book are 80 and 90 years old. They talk about aging and caregiving from the Old horse’s mouth.

Walter Oleksy, 90, author of more than thirty books and a former Chicago Tribune feature writer, reports the latest medical achievements for Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other afflictions of the elderly. From his own experience as a caregiver, he offers advice on caregiving and nursing home visiting. Avis Carlson wrote a weekly newspaper column on aging for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch when she was 80. She tells about the cons of aging: identity problems, self-esteem, aloneness; and the pros of aging: freedoms in aging, acceptance of age, sex and aging, achieving religious growth, laughing at life and death.

    Love and Courage

While I was doing my writing for this book. Suddenly it came to me, realizing why love; as the power to withstand any circumstances; and became victorious. If you think about it for real, there are icons in every form of status; or with whom of great faculties, on this planet earth cannot touch love. Or even to say, mess it up, soil it up or to have love corrupt! Or even to change the character of what love represent. Love stand alone in the uniqueness of its power and purity!

But always there for anyone to feel its energy; or I should say his energy, in any given situation! God is love, keep in mind; and the passion of love have no puff up pride of his character! Love inspired forgiveness to set us free. Uniquely; this is what this book is talking about, love, forgiveness, courage and loyalty towards the journey of life! With all the circumstances in life, love take you on his shoulders; and carve you out like a shining star. There are no situations that are too hard for courage, forgiveness and loyalty! And its all coming from the power of love. This book through the spirit of the Almighty God, will reset your perspectives through life journey.

I can say this for sure, that many of us is taking on too much responsibilities; without inviting God Almighty on their sides! They didn’t consulted with the Most Holy and Wise One; and we end up pay the price of regrets! {Proverbs: 10:1}, said a wise son makes a glad Father, but a foolish son is a grief to his Mother. Love is an inspiration to the human heart. Never-the-less we only can follow the foot prints of love, to have love; hes the door keeper and comforter! Love have the voice to be heard over the highest mountain, and down in the deepest valley. Love can melt the heart of stone, and brings back positive; when the darkness of negative covers the soul! We all needs the character of love, the glory of love; and the power of love to our guide and friend. When the heart of men recognize love, there is a spiritual light shines on us where we are free; to see more of his glory and power. The presence of God the creator, is the presence of love who is the reviver of our soul; when we are spiritual dead love give us back life!
