“Some are grateful, some critical, some miserable. Some people do fall into misfortune and ruin. Most take their circumstances with them, for better or worse, to the corner where they land.”

“Parables For The Purposeful Walk” by Jack Worrill is a collection that seeks to provide encouragement, guidance, and inspiration through parables. The book reflects Worrill’s life experiences and ministry, aiming to draw readers’ attention to the presence of God in their daily lives.
Many places in the Bible refer to our daily way of life in terms of walking. We are admonished to walk according to God’s will for us on the path that leads to His kingdom. In this world of instant communication, information, and misinformation, it is important for us to avoid the distractions that would cause us to hesitate, run ahead, or stray from the Holy Path.
This masterpiece follows in the tradition of Jack Worril’s first two books, “Parables for Plain People” and “More Parables for Plain People,” offering brief devotional messages for daily encouragement and inspiration. This continuity indicates Worrill’s commitment to exploring the spiritual journey through relatable stories.
Author Jack Worrill was born, reared, and educated in Atlanta, Georgia. After his graduation from Georgia Tech, he spent thirty-five years in the direct mail advertising and printing business before discovering his skills as a chair caning and furniture restoration craftsman.
In addition to these professional credentials, Jack spent twenty years as a bi-vocational minister of music in several churches in the Metro Atlanta area. Jack has three married daughters, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Following the passing of his wife Lyn in 2010, Jack responded to what he calls a “Holy Nudge” and in 2012 married Joyce Smith, who was also widowed in 2010. Joyce is the mother of two married sons, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Jack and Joyce currently live in Knoxville, Tennessee.
“Parables For The Purposeful Walk” follows in the tradition of Jack Worrill’s first two books, “Parables for Plain People” and “More Parables for Plain People,” offering brief devotional messages for daily encouragement and inspiration. It was in the metropolitan Atlanta area that he made his living, raised his own family, carried out his various ministries, and witnessed the events and news items that served as the basis for his writings.
Since 2012, Jack’s ministry opportunities have expanded to include medical and evangelistic missions to Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Myanmar, and Brazil, as well as several local mission projects. Each of these personal experiences has added a new perspective to the concept of walking the Purposeful Walk and contributed to the enrichment of Jack’s observations of the working of God in the everyday lives of those with whom he has come in contact.
The result is a collection of articles composed with the objective of focusing the readers’ attention on the presence of God in each day’s events, whether personal, local, or worldwide. Jack’s desire is that these parables will serve to give encouragement, guidance, and inspiration to each one who engages in the purposeful walk through life.
Jack Worrill’s personal experiences, including various ministry opportunities and trips to countries like Haiti and the Dominican Republic, have profoundly influenced the book. These experiences provide context and depth to his observations, enriching the parables’ messages about the workings of God in daily life.
The intended audience includes individuals looking for daily inspiration and encouragement in their spiritual lives. The parables are crafted to resonate with a broad readership, making spirituality accessible and relatable to anyone engaged in life’s journey.
