Though the title might suggest that only women can or should read it, doesn’t mean men can’t. The stories might also imply that it’s only subject is a woman and a man
bumping into themselves on a street corner, though that’s not a bad idea, it’s really much more than that. Yes, they do meet, otherwise what is the point? So, yes, they do meet in a street, on an elevator, parachuted into Afghanistan with a special force’s unit to a young woman that feels that she should have the same equality as men in Victorian England and dresses like a man then finds herself in love with an aristocrat that thinks it’s his sister and both end up in India. Since Zygier had a stint in the army, he takes that thought in many ways. Some sad, some funny and some serious. Such as an officer in Afghanistan that saves a female reporter from a sniper to a General that doesn’t want to get involved with women till he’s stuck on a plane with one. Though this is Zygier’s first book, he started to write as a hobby and later joined a writer’s group. There he was encouraged to put some stories together and publish them. -
Playing Hurt
Price range: $3.99 through $9.99BRIAN is playing his last high school football game. When he gets hurt, the coach tells him he must stay in the game since there isn’t anyone to replace him. Brian is worried about his future and his love for DEANIE, a beautiful cheerleader.
After the game, trouble develops when BILL, Deanie’s old boyfriend returns to town. Brian is distracted by e beer party and mischief with the rival school. Deanie is with her girlfriends when Bill appears. Deanie is coerced into his car and forced to have sex. Deanie doesn’t tell Brian. Bill leaves town, promising to return in the spring.
In February, Deanie tells Brian she is four months pregnant. Brian counts the months back and suspects that Bill might be the father. Deanie confesses and Brian is devastated. When Bill returns, Brian lures him out of town. Bill is severely beaten, but when Brian’s back is turned, Bill manages to get into his car and grab his pistol. Brian is shot in the arm. With the barrel pressed against Brian’s head, Bill blurts out that he had sex with Deanie many times. Suddenly there is another shot, but this time a bullet slams into Bill’s chest. Deanie is holding Brian’s rifle. Bill dies at the hospital.
In the summer, Deanie gives birth to a baby with dark hair and eyes like Bill’s. Heartbroken, Brian enlists in the army. Aboard the bus, he agonizes over leaving Deanie. Alone and afraid, he slumps back in the seat. Then, he remembers what his coach said about playing hurt, and he realizes that he must go on, even if it does hurt.

Spelons: The Hidden People

This is a story about a community of people that live in caves in Middle Tennessee. They are only ten inches tall, yet live a happy existence in their subterranean community. Sebastian asks Steve if he wants to live, and Steve, although puzzled by the man’s size, answers yes. Sebastian then gives him something to drink from a folded leaf.
