    Tormentas

    Price range: $3.99 through $13.99

    TRACKS

    Price range: $3.99 through $9.99

America – land of opportunity – nation of immigrants.

There is a special magic to America. It comes from the diversity of its people.

Like the characters in Tracks they come from all over – places like Guadalajara, Chapala, Chihuahua and Zacatecas, Mexico, Kirkaldy, Scotland, Barnmeen, Ireland, Copenhagen, Denmark, disputed territory in the shadow of Mt. Ararat in the Caucasus Mountain Range, Bremerhaven, Germany, and Padua, Italy.

In 1919, when young Pedro Figueroa and Antonio Flores were refused seats to a travelling Shakespearian and Broadway show on a Saturday night in a saloon in Socorro, New Mexico, the lead actor stopped the show and took them aside. He offered these words of encouragement:

“You boys got to do the same things my folks did. Work hard. Raise a family. Make sure your kids get to school. Your day will come. This is a great country. Look, we got rid of slavery. Things get better all the time. Lives are lived in stages. Look at the caterpillar, crawling about, making little tracks

on the ground, and then it’s into a cocoon, and before long, it’s flying about, a butterfly.”

Tracks is a testament to the spirit of immigrants who come to America and make it a better place.

After speaking from my heart and providing my husband with my real feelings. I could see from the expressions on his face that his ego had just been shattered into pieces. He never had to suffer from knowing my love could vanish away at an instance due to his cheating behaviors. I never expressed feelings of entrapment in our marriage either. And I sure didn’t express my thoughts of us going nowhere. I would just sit back and let him do him. But to be honest, my marriage for years has reminded me daily of a demolition ball swinging into a building. And once the ball made contact, all the bricks of the structure came tumbling down not knowing where they would land. The only difference is, these bricks in my marriage landed right where they were supposed to. Leaving Derrick and I trapped in a pile of broken people and situations trying to squirm our way out. But unfortunately, because our structure was destructed by a ball, we can’t get rid of. We can’t do anything but accept a reality of staying trapped, right in the pile of rubbish we put ourselves in. Better yet, we may even have to push and maneuver ourselves around for the very people we said we loved but showed them different. It may even get so hectic, that our marriage may look to be going in the wrong direction. But could it actually allow us to live happily ever after? Who’s to say. Maybe or maybe not! So, we think!

    VieVie La Fontaine

    Price range: $3.99 through $12.99

When I first published this book in 2018, wars raged in various parts of the world, just like today. Hourly, we were allowed to follow the horror and depravity as it unfolded. On June 14, 1940, during World War II, Germany invaded Paris, marking the start of the German occupation. At that time, there wasn’t the ease of news delivery at citizens’ fingertips. Instead, acts of bravery that we seldom consider occurred. Despite the possibility of severe punishment, the underground press distributed newspapers to offset the Vichy and German propaganda. Often, coded messages relayed instructions to members of the Resistance. An attempt to distribute and obtain daily news was itself a death sentence if found out. Yet, the spirit of the oppressed was undaunted.
VieVie La Fontaine is the story of two souls drawn together by a force they couldn’t comprehend.
Facts are intertwined with Fiction as this tale of incredible bravery unfolds. Maybe, there existed a Mark and VieVie. We may never know, but I offer VieVie La Fontaine in honor of the strength and determination of so many.

War Is Hell: A Tale of War And One’s Man’s Search for Meaning

This story is told by a soldier who was a part of the bloody war in Burma, the executive officer of a rugged group of American jungle fighters. He tells us in great detail what the war did to him and how he feels about taking another man’s life even to protect his own as he searches for meaning in it all…

World War II is winding down in the summer of 1945, but not for Major Jenkins and his band of Merrill’s Marauders. They have spent months combing the Burmese jungle for the notorious Japanese commander Colonel Maruyama and his troops. Major Jenkins, Captain Beltrans and what was left of their band were outnumbered two to one; so, they had to devise a plan that would overcome the odds. But after they settled the score with their enemy, they had to march hundreds of miles through the jungle back to their base near the Indian border. It was now August, and the war was over, but how would the local civilians living along the only trail out of Burma view the American soldiers?

Their journey back home was fraught with unexpected dangers and facing unplanned enemies through an unforgiving jungle. They had never been taught at West Point how to fight their new enemy.

After the war, Captain Beltrans is convinced that he should return Colonel Maruyama’s samurai sword to his descendants in Japan. However, what he thought would be a routine side trip to a modern country turned into a harrowing adventure in Japanese politics and a thousand-year-old culture. He ended up in an ancient Zen Garden in Kyoto wondering if he had done the right thing by killing enemy soldiers and civilians during the war. Does he get help from his deceased native grandmother?

    Water in the Belly

    Price range: $3.99 through $19.99

In this parody of all-knowing capitalism, Frank Holmes survived the stock market crash of 2008 by parody, forming a rock and roll band called the Cherry. He is Odysseus in his parody of Homer and Joyce. It’s PG-13. Parallel to this plot is the story of a spy, Butch Lautsky. It’s a spy novel parody defending the FBI.

Universal and evolutionary, the congress can be a lifeguard. Article I, section 10 of the US Constitutional Law is used to attempt to void state government regulations, not federal regulations.

    D. L. Snow graduated from the University of California and the University of Chicago.

Intertwined with the parody are thoughts about U.S. politics, religion, events, the constitution, the state of the world, congress, etc. Words such as “rebirth” and “zen” are mentioned quite a bit throughout the book. An excerpt from Water in the Belly that speaks to the mixture of story, thoughts, writing style, is: “Sherry’s religion is the Catholic Church. We need our mythodology to let us get a foothold on the world of Homer. The dead immortal God like Zeus. The Odyssey is the story of a man who spent 10 years at war and spent in years coming home, with references to The Iliad throughout the former classic by Homer. It’s all time, the tropes of history. For Public Policy.”

It is an intellectual maze to fully come to grasp with this extensive piece of literature. Perhaps there is more artistry and genius within than what appears on the surface. Water in the Belly will be of interest to Homer’s Odyssey enthusiasts, or perhaps it is just one person’s unique and untranslated thoughts about America and how a man in the 2008 recession era can be compared to Homer’s Odyssey. Regardless, D.L. Snow certainly deserves credit for his creativity and pursuit of such a difficult task as writing this unusual 500-page novel.

    Whose Coffee Is It?

    Price range: $3.99 through $10.99

I met June Seese in a class on writing fiction. As a teacher, one of my biggest kicks was that moment when the writers first read something they’d written. It was a nervous time-many writers shaking inside, for the first time showing their work to strangers, sympathetic, but nonetheless, strangers. June was remarkable. What has flowered since was already sturdy, strong distinct. She read with a confidence that moved beyond the personal, a faith outside herself in the certainty of her work. Here was a writer who had risen to that essential power where her work becomes necessary to her, a gift as sure and heedless as her pulse. She was right on track, and would move, beyond discouragement or criticism or even appreciation, into the strength, that difficult ease that’s the mark of a writer who will continue regardless, achieving an undeniable, unmistakable voice.

What makes a writer? Originality, a delighted care for language, a commitment to push words into new music and finally into pure emotion. June has these gifts-and her writing’s strengths- toughness, speed, lyricism, observation acuity and, ultimately, a compassion that’s never unsteady, never weak-make her the best kind of writer-impatient, hip, timely and transcending.
