Recovery Happens Through Christ (My Story of Abuse, Alcoholism, and Adultery)

Recovery Happens through Christ is taken from the journals of Marilynne Harrison, an otherwise regular person who found herself sexually abused as a child and exposed to a world of sin in such a way as to bring tears to one’s eyes. By the time she was eleven, Marilynne was exposed to drugs, alcohol, and sex; and worst of all, was told to keep her situation to herself. The results of being robbed of her childhood led Marilynne to continue to live her life in the only way she knew, by continuing in the same sins.

Finally, many years later, Marilynne makes a dramatic turn to God. He lifts her out of her pit in a truly impossible way. This book covers seventeen painful and then triumphant years in Marilynne’ s life. She shares her tremendous struggles with sin, painful choices leading to more wrongdoing, and finally, a real call from our ultimate Savior, Jesus Christ. Celebrate her recovery and find hope for your own recovery, or that of your loved ones.

Are you struggling with drugs, alcohol, and wrong sexual relationships? Are you trapped in a sex addiction and can’t find your way out? Do you long to understand the relationship between the Christian and homosexuality? Is there real hope for gay and lesbian recovery? Do you feel as if there is no possibility for addiction recovery or abuse recovery? Before you lose all hope, find some quiet reading time and read the story of a lady with all the same reoccurring temptations and failures. With all her miserable existence, she provides hope to those who know exactly what she is talking about when she discusses her deplorable and self-destructive lifestyle. Do not give another moment of your life to yourself and Satan. Instead, allow yourself to be guided by the Holy Spirit to the One who also understands your temptations and is able to finally give you relief. Jesus Christ died for you, just as much as He did for Marilynne and the whole world. Just as He rescued Marilynne and gave her new life, He can surely do the same for you too.

We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard … People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood (Romans 3:22-25)

    Remembering ZEOLA

The stories Zeola told about herself show aspects of her character that was budding at age four and five, for example learning to clean and care for her home and to beautify it. After marriage, she expressed her love for husband and children as she labored daily to take care of them. Preparing three meals daily, washing and cleaning as well as teaching and training her children to work and care for the home are all expressions of her love without using words. She loved her home and cultivated many flowers and trees on the outside. She worked hard to clean and beautify the home on the inside too. For example, she made curtains for the windows and doilies for many tabletops, cushions for chairs and tablecloths for tables. She and Brenda partnered to make quilts and bedspreads for the beds. The church and community were very important to her, and she gave herself to teaching children in Sunday School classes. She loved to sing and worked with the children’s choir at church for many years. Her devotion to Jesus Christ was shown in the zeal with which she took on tasks such as tending to the sick about her and helping those who were in some kind of need. Many of the examples I recount bring to light her service to others. She persisted in the face of multiple trials and afflictions; always getting up and trying again without giving up under their weight. When I began to think about her legacy, I rejoice as I look back over her life and realize that she developed enduring faith and Christian character through all of these things. She chose not to grow bitter because of them, but to submit to God’s will and to press toward victory that would someday be hers.

Solomon Levi MacKeefer: A Gypsy with a Very Great Heart

He was a gypsy, part of a gypsy band. His name was Solomon Levi Brown. His coming was not a part of his parents’ plans but was more of an example of the old saying that “accidents cause people.” As a consequence, he ended up as a child of the whole band of gypsies, dined with anyone handy, and slept wherever he could lay his head.
They called him Solly MacKeefer, and he started his life on a rough road. He learned compassion as a young boy as he watched a girl cry over her lost pet. He eventually found love with a beautiful gypsy woman, and they brought a child into the world. However, tragedy struck this happy family when they moved to Canada, and nothing was ever the same again.
Still, Solly persevered even after facing terrible loss. No matter how cruel the world, Solly refused to be the same. He found friends in unexpected places and even died a hero. At his funeral, crowds came from all around, proving that one man changed many lives. This is Solly’s story-a gypsy boy who grew into a man and left a legacy of kindness and love.
The author, having grave concerns that in the present situation, there is too much discrimination and persecution for the least fortunate of this world and because of his belief that the vast majority of the people as a whole are a kind and benevolent society and quick to respond to the plight of their fellow man. He has tried to show that in this story.
And we should all be reminded that someone once said: “and as ye shall do unto the least of my brethren likewise shall I do unto you”.

    The Big Secret : A Parent’s Treasure

Do you want to achieve a better life and higher promotions?
As a manufacturing plant supervisor, I was approached
by an engineer who asked me many questions about a
particular job he was interested in.
He asked several general questions, and our conversation
went on for months as he talked about his goal of earning
a promotion. I asked how long he had been trying to
accomplish his goal and he said he had worked on it for
    two years.
I bet him one hundred dollars that if he would apply my
secret methods, he would receive his promotion within
six weeks. I told him to think about what I had said and
    I walked off.
The very next day, he came to me and said he was
skeptical, but because he had learned a lot since he
started talking to me, he was willing to gamble. He said
he would take me up on my bet and I handed him my
materials to study, follow and apply to his future.
Five weeks later, he came back to me, glowing like a
    beacon, and filled with enthusiasm.
He thanked me repeatedly, with moisture in his eyes.
The expression on his face was priceless, and he
handed me a folded up “green back”. With excitement
and enthusiasm, he told me that he had received his
    promotion!
More than fourteen of my coworkers received their
promotions in record time, using the secret methods in
    this book!
