Price range: $3.99 through $12.99The book illustrations (i.e., stick figures) was inspired by another book that a friend of mine eventually gave me. I liked the idea of handwritten words, which I think were somewhat inspired by writing in a toy giving personalization. This book is back to basics with no time or commercialism dated as such. A moral lesson, if any, would be that no matter how many representations to people we are, we are the person with a name that defines us.

Price range: $3.99 through $12.99Who is your daddy? If Pastor John R. Peyton was asked this question when he was a boy, he might be ashamed to admit who his daddy was, having grown up in an abusive household with an alcoholic, womanizing father.

His new book, Have You Seen My Daddy?, is Pastor John’s detailed life story, beginning with his birth and childhood in Virginia to a strong Christian mother and an abusive, lost father. As he grew up, he witnessed hypocrisy in his home church and racism from other churches, wondering if this Jesus that was spoken of was really someone to be praised and worshipped.
He was soon drafted into the army and traveled to Central America and, all while struggling with his hatred toward white people that intensified through his involvement with the Black Panther Party. It wasn’t until the most unlikely of people witnessed to him of God’s love and Jesus’s sacrifice that Pastor John’s life turned around and because of this he was sent to Vietnam.
As Pastor John moved forward with his life, becoming a husband and father to three daughters, he began to feel God leading him down certain paths where his testimony of God taking away the hate and bringing him peace was impacting people’s lives.
Pastor John, as an agent of reconciliation for God, has been the vessel to change the lives of many, from lost lives in prison ministry to the well-to-do and various races and statuses. The hope is that readers will understand through his life story the need for God in our lives and that change for the better can only happen through Jesus.

Carrie and the Little Rose
Price range: $3.99 through $12.99With my first children’s book, Little Children We Are, published, this is my second children’s book inspired by a valentine date with a college girlfriend after going back to my dorm room. Originally, the title was The Little Rose. I later rented from a young couple born to them a little girl named Carrie Rose who would call me Uncle Lenny. I decided to add a little girl’s name, Carrie, and the story then became a story of Carrie having her mother tell her the story of The Little Rose. Hence, the title Carrie and the Little Rose.
I sat on the manuscript for years, thinking that it may be just a writing for children until I saw artwork. After seeing artwork from the illustrator, Beth Clingan, who her and her now husband, Mark, were college best friends to me. I decided to commission her to illustrate as a book in colored pencil to which she proved it excellently.
Although this book is about a little girl and a rose, it is for girls and boys as the moral of the book is to be the best person you were purposed to be, even if everyone doesn’t seem to notice.

Grandma makes sure that everyone knows her grandson is innocent and the three pig’s houses were poorly built.
This story targets upper elementary and middle school-age students. In this book, the author uses various forms of literary devices such as alliteration, similes, metaphors, onomatopoeia and more. This is a great book to discuss point of view especially when comparing it to other stories of the three pigs. Readers will be drawn into this story by grandma’s wit and charm.

Bernadette Inclan does an outstanding job weaving two periods of history to tell the story of her life and ancestor, José Narciso Cavazos, one of the early Texas settlers.
