    The Devil In The Cave

When a World War II Veteran, Archibald Arthur, a United States Serviceman retired from active military duty in November 1943 after a grueling experience fighting the Japanese in the Aleutian Islands off the coast of Alaska, he must battle to rebuild his civilian life and emerge from the ashes. The Post Traumatic Stress-Disorder was intense, but finding a job at the Anchorage Hotel in Downtown Alaska provided a safe haven for him to revitalize and start over. But when he met a vacationing young lady from Zagreb, Croatia at the Hotel, his world was turned upside down after a beautiful picnic with her in the foot of the Alaskan Mountains.

The Devil that must have killed her in the woods was too powerful, but he must face him to avenge her demise and, in the process, discovering it was far more complicated than he had previously imagined. It took years of living in the mountain foot, surviving bitter winters and learning for him to discover that the battle that he must fight was not only carnal, but spiritual as well. Deep inside the cave with his loyal dog, Gossiper, they came face to face with the Devil and that marked a new beginning for them both……

    God, by Man

In this bound-to-be controversial work of theological scholarship, Oguchi H. Nkwocha, M.D., propounds some fascinating and bold theories about religious beliefs. Rather than support his contentions with an abundance of scriptural quotations, the author skillfully builds the case for his unorthodox views with deductive reasoning.

Taking an antifundamentalist stance, he asks readers to reexamine man’s relationship with God. The author reveals how various religions and religious sects function by inventing gods and then assigning those “creations” the qualities of omniscience and omnipotence. Evading the reality of the real Supreme Being, mankind has often manufactured his gods in his own image.

Instead of presenting his striking theories in an abstract manner, this writer/philosopher relates the shortcomings of many religions by juxtaposing them with such contemporary issues as homelessness, sexism, and ecology-issues which most religions fail to address squarely, if at all. Dr. Nkwocha’s book is at its most compelling when it dissects the way in which religions have evolved from mankind’s need to understand the complex mysteries of nature.

Students of religious history will be eager traveling companions on this journey through times as Nkwocha delves into pagan rituals, the traditional political power of the priesthood, and the manner in which our gods continue to fail us when we seek answers to cosmic enigmas.

Whether you are an atheist, an agnostic, or a true believer, this profound treatise offers grounds for enlightened spiritual discussion.

The Man Who Transformed Africa: The Rebirth of a Continent

The novel opens with Vatican intrigue between liberal and conservative Cardinals leading to the unlikely selection of an Indonesian Pope. Seizing the opportunity, the new pope uses Ex-Cathedra (papal infallibility) to declare poverty an immoral human condition. Deciding to lead by example, the pope takes the provocative step of selling the Vatican treasures, to fund a long-term project to build a strong African middle-class society. This project is estimated to take twelve to fifteen years to complete. This novel covers the first two years of the pope’s African project.
Project leaders during the first two-year period understand if Africa is to be successful in building a strong middle-class society a number of events must first take place.
African social order must change; Africans must feel safe in their homes and community.
The African political structure must be restructured to focus on serving the needs of Africans. Africa’s health care system needs a major overhaul.
Africa must have an intra-continental highway, connected to four deep seaports, for the distribution of agricultural products to a global market.
Africa must have dependable electricity that services all homes and businesses.
Africa’s tropical savannas’ land, which contains 63% of the worlds arable farmland, must be restructured to allow for optimal farming while at the same time protecting native wildlife.
The pope’s project, Build Africa Together, will be responsible for implementing these basic goals, which will eventually allow Africans to build a strong African middle-class society.

    Yearly Devotional

Yearly Devotional is a compilation of sermons in abridged form that the author has preached in over twenty years of ministry arranged alphabetically by subject matter from everyday life. The author lends his love of history, sense of humor, and varied life experiences in relating stories from the Bible. He also includes personal reflections on each section to help provide perspective on the author’s viewpoints. The author makes no excuse for the “preachy” parts of this work as his purpose is to share the “good news” as he has experienced it in his life. In reading this devotional, then, it is hoped that the reader will “taste” the influence of a life lived from a small-town boy raised in Western Pennsylvania at a time when family, love of God and country, respect for authority, and a strong work ethic were the norm, rather than the exception.

The HR Companion: Human Resource Management

The problems that the human resource manager must solve in an organization are continuously diversifying. In his activity, the human resource manager confronts with a sea of challenges, especially stemming from the ever-changing workforce and the legislation in the field.

Yet, taking into account the critical character of Human Resource Management, it benefits from special attention on the part of the leadership. Human resource managers develop and work in a human resource management system. In such a system, acknowledged as efficient, variable number of activities are associated, from four to nine, as identified by the American Society for Training and Development CASTD. Considering the increasing complexity of human resource management, some authors have added more activities, such as those included in this book, as well, reckoning that it is necessary for new domains to be developed, implemented and evaluated, such as work humanization, work programs and plans of rewards regarding performance and career planning.

Jesus Is There: Discovering Jesus at Work in the Old Testament

Where was Jesus and what was he doing during the many centuries of Old Testament history? If Jesus had personal contact with people only after being born in Bethlehem, where was he for the hundreds of years while the Jewish people lived their lives. suffered and struggled, and were in need of direction and support? If he really cares for people, is it rational to believe that during that time he was not engaged at all in human history?

Using a fresh and little explored empirically-based approach and resources including the Septuagint, three keys are found which in the New Testament reliably distinguish the person and work of Christ from that of God the Father. Guidelines for the use of the keys are established, and these guidelines are then applied to 25 selected passages in the Old Testament where the divine is definitely at work. When this is done, the results clearly show that Jesus Is There, at work in the Old Testament and doing far more with people than most of us ever thought. You are invited to examine these in-depth studies with the prospect that you may arrive at a truly broadened understanding of Jesus Christ.

The Paths of My Life: A Christian’s Journey

Martin Dorman was born at Mercy Hospital on the south side of Chicago. His parents sent him and his older siblings to church, never attending themselves, except that his Mom started attending in her late 60’s. He attended Chicago’s Ashland Christian Church in his younger years, taking a break from church during his teen years, attending sporadically until late in his nine-year military career where his older bother introduced him to Mr. Herbert Armstrong and the Worldwide Church of God. He remained a member of this church over 30 years, most of that during extreme legalism, and through the time it had a major doctrinal change to Christ-centered worship. He’s now been a member of Mesa First Church of the Nazarene for two years. Pastor Ira Brown and the congregation are very warm and loving. It’s Martin’s second home. His two favorite hymns are, “Oh, How I Love Jesus,” and “To God be the Glory” He presently lives in Mesa, Arizona, and his daily goal is to live according to God’s will and follow His path.

    God’s Purpose in Creation

In his practice Dr. Carrigan witnessed Christians suffer and die with ravaging and devastating diseases. As an historian, he was aware of the untold suffering humanity has endured, at times at its own hand and even at times in the name of God. He has personally suffered the death of his wife, son and grandson, and the near deaths of his other son and his self in separate accidents.

He asked God why He has allowed such suffering in his people, the question asked by millions over the centuries of human history.

In “God’s Purpose in Creation”, The author sets forth a theological explanation based on God’s ultimate plan and perfect will for his church and his permissive will at work in our lives today.
