“Bread and Butter: Poems of the Spirit” by Jean Moore is a collection of poems that explore themes of spirituality, everyday life, and the connections between the mundane and the divine. Through vivid imagery and reflective language, Moore invites readers to consider the beauty and significance found in ordinary experiences.

The poems often reflect on the interplay between the physical and spiritual realms, using food and nourishment as metaphors for deeper truths. The title itself suggests a focus on both the sustenance we need to live and the spiritual fulfillment that transcends the material world. Moore’s work emphasizes the importance of gratitude, connection, and the search for meaning in personal and communal contexts.

Jean E. Moore grew up in Provo, Utah, in the 60’s and 70’s. She had the best of both city and country life. After her marriage, they spent many years in the military stationed in Hawaii, Europe, and great United States. They have four adopted children, who have all moved on and have families of their own.

“Bread and Butter: Poems of the Spirit” is her second book, the first being one exclusively of Christmas poems, which is also a Bread and Butter book. She has included a section on Nature in this collection on religious poems because Nature helps her feel close to God.

From an early age, she wrote an occasional poem about many varied subjects. She loves nature and animals, thus in her youth, she wrote about the world around her. Jean believed that all of nature denotes there is a God.

Throughout the collection, there is a focus on gratitude and the communal aspects of life, illustrating how shared experiences can lead to spiritual growth. “Bread and Butter: Poems of the Spirit,” serves as a reflective journey, inviting readers to appreciate the beauty and meaning in their daily lives while considering their spiritual paths.

Overall, the collection serves as an invitation to reflect on the richness of life and the ways in which we can find inspiration and hope in our daily existence.
