When Elizabeth Seither went into her doctor’s office in June 2020, she suffered a mild stroke and was taken to a nearby hospital. While in the hospital and upon a complete physical examination, the doctors learned that she needed a relatively routine colonoscopy, even at age 80. Th is book tells the story of what happened while Liz was in the hospital during the COVID-19 CRISIS and the promise she elicited from her younger sister, Rita, asking her to write a book on her and her family’s lives.
Since no visitors were allowed during this crisis, these two sisters had TIME to talk extensively on the phone over five days. Liz had difficulty concentrating and was very nervous because she was waiting for this procedure to be completed before returning home. However, the two sisters had many phone conversations in which Liz opened up the doors and windows of her entire life!
From their humble beginnings in Cleveland, Ohio, Liz and her four siblings, Dorothy, Victor, Rita, and Richard, faced numerous hardships. However, their shared resilience and determination led them to successful and fulfilling lives, a testament to the power of perseverance… Dr. Rita Stupavsky Colasent

I have to say this book is remarkable. Dr. Rita is my best friend’s grandmother and Liz was her sister. This story was very wild but it shows the strength of two sisters that overcame a lot but unfortunately there was a twist in something that should have been a routine procedure. This was a riveting story of triumph in the beginning but it was very sad how Liz’s life ended over something that really could have been an easy operation. The medical system in this country is both very good and very bad. It shows how little care they put into her well-being. They overcame a lot and now Liz is in Heaven. Dr. Rita poignantly expressed her emotions and stories of growing up with deaf parents and everything that was hard for their family. Much love and respect to them and her for sharing Liz’s story and hopefully the medical system doesn’t fail people like they did her. I know from personal experience because I lost my mother who was 60 from these things last year. She had cirrhosis of the liver and bad legs was put into several nursing homes was treated very poorly and then ended up contracting covid-19 and passing away from it last year despite not getting covid during the pandemic. But despite covid not being the cause of Liz’s death it shows where people’s main focus was at the time even for things that weren’t the main problem. Everyone doesn’t deserve to be neglected. Thank you Dr. Rita for writing this motivational and beautiful story I loved reading it!
