Carrie and the Little Rose
Price range: $3.99 through $12.99With my first children’s book, Little Children We Are, published, this is my second children’s book inspired by a valentine date with a college girlfriend after going back to my dorm room. Originally, the title was The Little Rose. I later rented from a young couple born to them a little girl named Carrie Rose who would call me Uncle Lenny. I decided to add a little girl’s name, Carrie, and the story then became a story of Carrie having her mother tell her the story of The Little Rose. Hence, the title Carrie and the Little Rose.
I sat on the manuscript for years, thinking that it may be just a writing for children until I saw artwork. After seeing artwork from the illustrator, Beth Clingan, who her and her now husband, Mark, were college best friends to me. I decided to commission her to illustrate as a book in colored pencil to which she proved it excellently.
Although this book is about a little girl and a rose, it is for girls and boys as the moral of the book is to be the best person you were purposed to be, even if everyone doesn’t seem to notice.

This is a great book to discuss point of view especially when comparing it to other stories of the three pigs. Readers will be drawn into this story by grandma’s wit and charm.

Bernadette Inclan does an outstanding job weaving two periods of history to tell the story of her life and ancestor, José Narciso Cavazos, one of the early Texas settlers.

Snow on black ice is treacherous, but going slowly, I made progress. As I approached my turn, I looked across the valley; a car spinning out of control crashed into the guardrail and stopped! Flames flickered from under the car as it hung precariously over the cliff.
Throwing caution to the wind, I raced up the hill, slid to a stop, jumped out of my truck, and as I ran to the woman standing there, another woman was slumped over the wheel, eyes open but not moving, and both of them, pregnant! Immediately, I knew them, Mareilene and Dareilene, twins from high school. As I grabbed the door handle, Mareilene yanked me back, looked at me, almost insanely, with blood dripping down her face, screamed,
“Dareilene and baby are dead, and ‘He’ doesn’t know that she was traveling with me. Damn it, Joe, help me! I need to push the car off the cliff and let it explode with them in it.”
I yelled,
“What the fuck! You can’t do that!”
Mareilene, scared to death, yelled,
“He’s coming, Joe, and the only way we live is to let him think it’s me and my baby that are dead at the bottom of this cliff. Damn it, Joe, decide! Both my baby and I live, or we all will die! Dareilene and her baby are dead, and Joe, I now know that God sent you here to save me and my baby!”
Her eyes told me the truth, and then, with one shove, the car with Dareilene and her unborn baby plunged off the cliff and exploded in flames. We climbed into my truck, and as I hit the gas, Mareilene, rapidly going into shock, cried,
“Drive like the Devil is on your heels, Joe because He is!”

Diary Of A Deplorable!

Seventy-four million Americans voted the same way I did in 2020, so I guess we are all deplorables. Another president decried the fact that we conservatives “cling to our guns and our God.” I choose to cling to both! Further, as a conservative, and a former university professor, I’ve been a victim of the lies, and false accusations of the woke cancel culture. For these reasons, I am now highly vested in this struggle against dishonesty, cancellation, and the destructive identity politics of wokeness. Finally, I believe in truth, and believing the truth today is virtually criminalized in our country. Here are some truths that, as a deplorable, I believe in.
There are only two genders, and only females can get pregnant.
History cannot be changed, and historical monuments should not be destroyed or dismantled at the whim of today’s left-leaning press.
Reparations won’t work, since almost everyone on the planet can make a case to receive them.
The Southern border of the US is witnessing an invasion, sanctioned and encouraged by democrats. Drugs and criminal thugs flow in without restraint creating a danger for all Americans.
Fatherlessness is destroying the Black community, and that problem may take American culture down with it.
Our current president suffers from dementia. He cannot function as leader of the free world.
The 2020 presidential election was a coup, orchestrated by democrats, a number of “get out the vote” non-profits, and 2000 mules stuffing ballot boxes. The 2024 election might be the same.
The current, highly dangerous world chaos, and two wars, have resulted in part because of a weak, demented US President.
These truths, and many others, are being attacked daily in the press, but truth generally stands strong in the face of lying politicians and infantile name-calling. Still, in 2024 these “woke” attacks on conservatives are getting much, much worse. If the lies and half-truths of leftists go unchallenged, they can eventually destroy our American experiment, so I felt I had to respond. In all honesty, you probably picked up this diary because you feel the same. You may have been attacked yourself by wokeness in some form or another, perhaps denied a job or a promotion because you were white, or male. In the view of leftist democrats, all Christian conservatives and all republicans are “deplorables” all 74 million of us. Given that these attacks do destroy lives sometimes, I’ve decided to respond, using a Christian perspective and humor (which disarms woke-leftists), to comment on today’s headlines. Thus, I’ll embrace the term, deplorable! The woke left is going to hate me and all conservative Christians anyway, so let’s let them. Herein, I’ll use truth, honesty, fact-based arguments, Jesus’ example of love, and a goodly dose of humor, to work to preserve the American experiment that I do so love. As usual, Jesus said it best!
