Lady in Red Where is Your Head?
$3.99 – $16.99Price range: $3.99 through $16.99“Lady in Red, Where is Your Head?” by first-author Carolann deBellis, tells the story of a woman who survived a brain injury and a coma after a car accident on an icy New Jersey Turnpike in 1987, when she was 34.
Carolann had it all, the perfect life, before the accident-a great job at a hot Philadelphia salon, a passionate 12-year marriage and a wide circle of friends and family who marveled at her energy and infectious spirit.
Then, in the aftermath of the near-death accident, she lost it all-job, husband and sense of self. After learning to walk, talk and cut hair again, she faced the life-long task of going beyond recovery, beyond recreating the person she was before the accident to aspire for something better. Psychological counseling and the support of a loving circle of family and friends helped her to see that all was not perfect before the accident, helped her redefine a new Carolann, a work in progress who’s less self-absorbed and more self-aware, less controlling, and more open in her relationships with men in her life.
If it weren’t for the imperative, painful job of remaking herself physically, cognitively, and emotionally from a child-like state after the accident, Carolann might never have undertaken the intense personal journey that leads her today, at 59, to say “I thank God for my brain injury that cured me.”
More than a conventional memoir or self-help guide, “Lady in Red” stitches together Carolann’s own words, a diary that her cousin Michael Biello wrote during her coma and rehabilitation, hospital documents, notes from nurses and visitors and Carolann’s collection of inspirational quotes.
“I wrote and rewrote this book for over 20 years to help others who suffered or know someone who has suffered a brain injury,” Carolann says. Certainly, those directly or indirectly affected by a traumatic brain injury will benefit from reading her book, but so will anyone who believes it’s never too late to re-examine yourself and get to work making yourself a better person.

Outlaws are Optional: Book IV of the Cruickshank Chronicles
$3.99 – $16.99Price range: $3.99 through $16.99As CEO of the world’s most successful outlaw band, Don Orlando should be laughing all the way to the bank, but he’s not laughing today. An exiled duke, complete with toadies, minstrels and huntsmen has set up camp in the forest, just a short ride from outlaw headquarters, and that’s the sort of thing that plays hell with the asset-redistribution business. And the busy seasons just about to begin. In desperation, Orlando turns to Mission Implausible, Albion’s premier adventure team. It’s true that their appetite for beer and gratuitous violence is notoriously insatiable and it’s also true that Andrew Cruickshank, their mage, combines the efficiency of the postal service, the predictability of the weather and the destructive potential of a strategic nuclear weapon, but hell, what have you got to lose? Quite a bit, actually.
While Cruickshank studies the Shakespeare play As You Like It for clues on how to get rid of exiled dukes, his Designated Opposite, the black mage Montmorency arrives on the scene and begins to start stirring things up. As if that were not enough, Titus Handcarte, the First Speaker of East Castellian, wants to put Don Orlando out of business by establishing a Rural Roistering Experience in the outlaws forest and has persuaded usurping Duke Roger to spearhead this operation.
Things do not look good for Don Orlando, caught between an exiled duke on one side, and a usurping duke backed by East Castellians army on the other. But Mission Implausible is up to the challenge. They can, and do, call upon gratuitous violence, improbable disguises, forgery, blackmail, dubious transvestite rituals, shameless piracy of Shakespearean plots and occult incompetence. Handcarte, usurping Duke Roger and exiled Duke Frederick don’t stand a chance, especially when Montmorency is persuaded to lend his formidable occult and diplomatic skills.

A Manual for the Modern Mystic: How to Practice Being in the Presence of God
$3.99 – $16.95Price range: $3.99 through $16.95A guide about how to weave spiritually into real-world experiences by following 12 basic, manageable laws.
The word “mystic” often brings to mind a person who lives outside society in order to maintain his rarified state. However, Olesky (Astrology and Consciousness, 1995, etc.) writes that a mystic way of being can enhance every aspect of normal human existence—from childbirth to creative expression to simple tasks such as tidying a workspace or watering plants in a garden. His manual lay outs universal laws he has identified (and followed) as guideposts for spiritually connected living. The laws correlate with the 12 zodiac signs, which Olesky has eloquently expanded to embody the full range of flesh-and-blood experience. For example, the possession-focused earth sign Taurus embodies the Law of Survival, while the expansive sign of Sagittarius correlates with the Law of Abundance. (Other laws touch on Creativity, Love, Harmony, Transcendence and other principles). However, this is no mere astrological guide: Olesky fleshes out the principle behind each law before touching on the astrological correlation and explains the consequences of “not aligning” with each law. The book never becomes dry or preachy; Olesky draws on his own experiences as well as those of his family, clients and teachers to breathe life into each law and highlight the laws’ relevance and achievability. The result is an eminently readable, heartfelt and soulful manual, graced by Olesky’s wisdom as well as quotations and ideas from spiritual teachers across the centuries.
