Following Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection, He met with several of His disciples on the shore of the Sea of Galilee as they came in from fishing, Peter’s former career. Confusion is apparent regarding what they should do following those two events that tested their faith and changed their lives forever. Christ posed a powerful question to Peter: “Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these?” It was not a question about fish, but about devotion.
Peter answered that he did love the Lord, and Christ replied, “Feed my sheep.” He asked the question three times. In doing so, Christ was clearly testing and reawakening Peter’s commitment and calling him once again to a life of discipleship.
Peter had been called to follow the Lord-and so have we all. The unanswered question for each of us is this: Will we, like Peter, turn to Christ with full purpose of heart?

Hourly, we were allowed to follow the horror and depravity as it unfolded. On June 14, 1940, during World War II, Germany invaded Paris, marking the start of the German occupation. At that time, there wasn’t the ease of news delivery at citizens’ fingertips. Instead, acts of bravery that we seldom consider occurred. Despite the possibility of severe punishment, the underground press distributed newspapers to offset the Vichy and German propaganda. Often, coded messages relayed instructions to members of the Resistance. An attempt to distribute and obtain daily news was itself a death sentence if found out. Yet, the spirit of the oppressed was undaunted.

I remember finding a pair of pants in one of the boxes which fit me perfectly. However, I grew taller and my pants unfortunately didn’t. My mom would either sew patches to cover up holes from overuse and she would also sew fabric to the bottom of each pant leg to make them longer. The word for patches in Spanish is parches. Parchita is what inspired me to write this book. I truly hope you enjoy my story.
