Colonies in Ruins: Transformed by the Pacific War
$3.99 – $12.99Price range: $3.99 through $12.99Colonies in Ruins is a collection of intriguing short-stories about foreign colonies of the Asia-Pacific region—British Malaya, French Indochina, the Dutch East Indies, and the US Philippine Islands. For a very long time, these colonies had generated fabulous wealth from mining and agriculture for their colonial masters, but colonial life came to an end on December 8, 1941 as they were each attacked by Japanese forces soon after the US Naval Base at Pearl Harbor was devastated.
Following three years of harsh Japanese occupation, the clear focus of local people was to gain independence from foreign powers that tried to reclaim their former colonies. Hard-won battles and negotiations finally led to the emergence of Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines as new republics in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s.
Read about the men and women who helped make it all happen.

Colors
$3.99 – $14.50Price range: $3.99 through $14.50If a book can help provide a measure of insight into this dark turbulent age we find ourselves engulfed as a Nation this historical-fictitious read fits the bill. At a time when the Nation is on the brink of Moral Bankruptcy and on the verge of a second Civil War.
The truth be told Joe Valachi’s loose lips did not sink the Flag Ship and the last 4-years of the Presidency reviled where the Buck actually Stopped, proving that there are no Referees or Judges to pretend that social Just-Us and racial equality ever existed, nor will it ever prevail as long as the Red-rag blue-rag Rooster shot-calling gangster counterparts to the Crips and Bloods keep squabbling in the barnyard there can be no peace in the Hen House.
The racially charged divisive state of our Nation coupled with
the devastating fall-out from the disastrous Pandemic has caused unprecedented upheaval of a nature that what is needed is unprecedented help of a Godsend nature from the unlikeliest of Hero’s to step up to the plate.
Simply speaking this is the opportune moment for the Crips and Bloods to become Heroes not only of their perspective, concrete Jungle communities but the Nation as a whole is clearly out-of-control.

Confessions of A Gynecologist
$3.99 – $16.99Price range: $3.99 through $16.99Dr. Dresden leaves no stone unturned as he navigates through the exciting world of the development and practice of an obstetrician and gynecologist. From start to finish, his story is wrought with startling revelations and shocking exposes. His journey uncovers the needs, hopes, anticipations and expectations of men who choose to become physicians and, later on, obstetricians and gynecologists. He deals, without evasion, with the compromises that must be made in a physician’s personal life in order to first learn and then practice his chosen profession. He explores, in stark detail, the life experiences that motivate men to strive to serve women’s medical needs. He uncovers the self-serving and abusive nature of medical training and the resultant waste, inefficiency and danger. He confronts the flaws and dangers in the medical delivery system that threaten our expectation of quality medical care. He exposes the rot, self-interest and hypocrisy that pervade the political power structure of hospitals and medical societies. Lastly, he uncovers the power that drug companies can exert to control the pricing and delivery of pharmaceuticals and concomitantly keep physicians in line. The task is monumental and the author has met the challenge.

Connections
$3.99 – $15.99Price range: $3.99 through $15.99Contrary to the dazzling wealth, glitz and glamour portrayed in the media, the Upper East Side of Manhattan is not only glass penthouses, hedge fund managers, and $500 dinners. There are also ordinary side streets where hard-working singles rent, where roommates split expenses, where elderly women live orderly lives. For many of them, home means a loving animal, the steadfast presence that shares a life, hears a secret, heals a hurt, claims the heart.
That’s how it is for long-term resident Rosa Bassetti. There is no better friend than Princess, her arthritic Poodle. Rosa’s neighbor, Eileen Hargan, feels the same about Fibber McGee, her little Boston Terrier. Strangers at first, the two senior citizens become friends as they meet while walking their dogs, come sun, rain, or snow.
Their peaceful routine is shattered when Eileen receives an anonymous note demanding money, threatening to kidnap or hurt her dog if she doesn’t pay. A dangerous criminal? Cruel prankster? Rosa is determined to find out.
Played out against Manhattan’s aging brownstones, tree-lined streets and pre-war buildings, CONNECTIONS brings together an intriguing cast of New Yorkers-a same-sex couple, a tough social worker finding love, a troubled boy, a lonely office manager-who all come together through their love for animals, and join forces against a terrifying menace.
Author Jackie Wein writes with warmth, subtle wit, and intimate knowledge of the powerful bonds we share with our four-legged families. Sometimes, it is our beloved pets that help us to get through life’s difficult experiences. But, as CONNECTIONS never lets us forget, the ultimate connection is with each other.

Construction Engineering and Inspection: What You Learn in The Field
$3.99 – $9.99Price range: $3.99 through $9.99This book serves as a training tool that teaches how to write helpful daily reports. The content of this work is knowledge acquired outside the classroom.
The information included is valuable because it informs about what is expected of inspection teams when writing daily construction reports. The content is relevant because it describes the information that construction, engineering, and inspection managers need to bring the project to its successful completion.
Knowing how to write useful daily reports is vital to provide inspection services that meet customer expectations.
The central theme of this volume is to properly document the daily activities and critical events of the construction site. Nevertheless, it also reflects on issues that answer the question of whether contractors and inspectors are enemies.
Experts use the methodology shown when supervising highway construction, but users can apply it to other types of infrastructure work.
Consultants will benefit significantly from these pages because their employees will know a successful way to anticipate emerging risks consistently and, therefore, be more effective in delivering good quality projects.
The book is essential for new inspectors or young engineers seeking guidance on how to report on road construction work. This book shortens their learning curve and helps them get the recognition they will need to advance their careers.

Courage and Devotion
$3.99 – $23.99Price range: $3.99 through $23.99This battle flag was given to the battery just before the Battle of Shiloh. I wrote this book with the purpose of having the historical narrative separate from stories of the men. If the reader wants to know about an individual, there are sections within the chapters about the officers and enlisted men. It is the intention of this book to describe the battery’s place in the large scheme of things. On the maps in this book are marks that show the location of the battery at each battle. In each chapter, after the narrative, there are descriptions of the officers and what they were doing, followed by information about the enlisted men. At the end of the book, there are several appendices that present lists of men for various times. The names are listed chronologically first and then alphabetically.

Covering All The Grounds: From Birth to Maturity in God
$3.99 – $12.99Price range: $3.99 through $12.99Quote from Blair Townley, Xulon Press This nonfiction book educates readers in what it means to “grow” in Jesus and fulfill the purpose bestowed to each person by a loving God. The main concept of the book is that salvation does not conclude a Christian’s purpose on earth, but revitalizes it in helping those lost in the world find God. The book’s content is organized and very linear in its approach, as it explains thetopic more thoroughly through the chapters and uses realistic examples to connect readers’ experiences to the truths of the Bible. The author’s tone is very even and helpful towards readers, keeping the book’s dialogue informative but light-hearted that will encourage readers in seeing the eternal merits of a relationship with God through Jesus.

COVID-19 a TCM Perspective
$9.99 – $29.99Price range: $9.99 through $29.99Covid-19 has been a global challenge for more than two years. We do not know exactly how and when this, the worst epidemic in the last 100 years will end, but we are almost sure that it will keep mutating and remain with us well into the future. As globalization and urbanization increase, we will continue to encounter unknown viruses and the so-called Disease X. Since there is no cure yet, we must research and deploy standard and alternative measures.
In China, more than 500 plagues were recorded in the past 3000 years, Traditional Chinese Medicine grew up struggling with those mainstream medical crises. TCM has formed mature theories on integrated treatment plans and has accumulated and recorded rich therapeutic experiences.
Diseases like influenza, SARS and Covid-19 have utilized TCM theories and have benefitted from its robust history. This book details TCMʼs role in the treatment of Covid-19 in three primary parts.
Initially a retrospection of TMC history of plagues is offered, including the earliest theories of antiserum therapy and ancient vaccines and variolation. This section also includes information on the various schools of TCM and their various approaches in understanding and treating plagues. Next, we explore modern TCM theories on the etiology and pathogenesis of Covid-19. Finally, we discuss prevention strategies as well as treatment of accompanying and underlying patterns and immune disorders associated with Covid-19. We include examples of how early physicians dealt with contagions and patients and how they tried to do their work, but not contract the diseases they were treating. We also include a section on the various stages of Covid-19 infection from initial to critical as well as the sequelae of this infection. TCM has been found to be especially useful in the post-infection phase for patients with lingering symptoms.
This book is based on a combination of scientific research emanating from Western as well as TCM sources.
For practitioners of Chinese Medicine, we feel this book deserves your attention.

Cowboys and Samurai: Myths and Realities
$3.99 – $13.99Price range: $3.99 through $13.99Myths exist in every society. They can be used for positive purposes, such as solidifying national identity, ensuring political stability and promoting national pride. On the other hand, they can be used for nefarious purposes, such as justifying expansionism at the expense of other nations. When we examine the myths surrounding the cowboys and the samurai, we learn how the myths originated and how they evolved over the years. Comparing the myths with realities, we learn about the conditions and the circumstances involved and we gain an understanding of what the real cowboy and samurai were really like. When you hear the names John Wayne and Roy Rogers, what image of the cowboy do you have? What image of the samurai do you take away when you read the book Shogun or see the movie or the TV series of the same title? These questions are poised and discussed in this book. The book ends with a discussion of the roles played by the cowboy and samurai myths in contemporary America and Japan.

Creeping Shadows
$3.99 – $30.99Price range: $3.99 through $30.99The son of John and Viola Hastings, author Swede Hastings was born in 1941 in the small town of Roseburg, Oregon. In his early years, the family moved about the western part of the United States, following the fruit and work available. His family later returned to Roseburg and bought a small farm.
In 1958 Swede joined the US Navy. The next year there was a major explosion in the city of Roseburg, devastating the town. Swede, age 18, received emergency leave to help his family. While on leave, an accidental hunting tragedy resulted in his 15-year-old brother’s death. Due to the emotional trauma, he was suffering, Swede was institutionalized in California, where he had relived details of the accident. It was this tragedy which inspired him to write his first poem, Creeping Shadows.
Once released from the hospital, Swede found that keeping busy kept his mind off the accident. Throughout different highs and lows of his life, Swede would turn to words as an outlet. As with his first poem, the page seemed to hold the answers for dealing with things too emotional to confront any other way.
Swede feels that there is a time and place for each thought to be expressed, and we all have our unique individual ways to express our feelings. Since the experience of accepting the Lord, Swede believes that the best is yet to come.
