“My Paper Children” by Michele Heeney is among the books displayed by Author Reputation Press during the 76th Frankfurt Book Fair in Frankfurt, Germany, on October 16-20, 2024.
The 76th Frankfurter Buchmesse (16–20 October 2024) puts a spotlight on current topics in the world of international publishing and on today’s socio-political issues. At the same time, it is expanding the venues that allow readers and authors to interact, with an emphasis this year on the growing desire younger readers have to engage with literature. The book fair’s opening ceremony took place on 15 October 2024 under the motto “FBM24 is Read!ng—Read. Reflect. Relate.”

This year, Frankfurter Buchmesse is once again demonstrating its indispensability as a venue for professional exchange in the global book industry, thanks to its fully booked Literary Agents & Scouts Centre (LitAg), the largest meeting place of its kind worldwide, as well as an expanded audio area and an increase in international stages and trade events, including high-ranking CEO talks.
The mission of Author Reputation Press is to foster literary connections between authors and readers. In line with this, ARP displayed several of its remarkable books at the largest book trade fair in the world. The book gallery was even more interesting because of the large variety of genres in the exhibition.
“My Paper Children” is a book of photos and poems by Michele Heeney spanning 45 years, from the mountains of Western Pennsylvania to the sixties in San Francisco and beyond. It includes photos and poems from West Africa, Mexico, Hawaii, the central coast of California and New Mexico.
Michele has lived in Marin and Monterey counties of California, and also Maui, Hawaii. Michele now lives and writes in New Mexico. Her house is on the Cochiti reservation, just south of Santa Fe in the little town of Cochiti Lake.
After receiving her R.N. in Pennsylvania and moving to California, she expanded her career at UCSF studying OBGYN and becoming a Nurse Practitioner. The last fifteen years of her career were spent in Monterey County working with Mexican farm workers in the Salinas Valley. In addition to her professional work, nature filled her life at home on a 6,000-acre ranch at the north end of the Big Sur Wilderness where she was caretaker for the park district of Monterey. The interview in the program People of Distinction is about the discussion of the message of the book as well as the author’s purpose for writing this masterpiece. People of Distinction is one of the most wide-ranging radio shows in the United States. Benji Cole, the host of the program, is a world-class interviewer, video formulator, Los Angeles actor, and filmmaker. He shared the acting stage with superstar Tom Hanks.
