The event hosted over 1,000 exhibitors, although providing an exact figure would offer more clarity and detail. The International Rights Center, which saw a 10-percent rise in sales compared to 2024, is said to have sold a total of 550 tables.

Additionally, attendees are invited to celebrate industry leaders through the Trailblazer and Lifetime Achievement Awards.
The Writers’ Summit conference, designed to assist authors in gaining visibility among agents, publishers, and readers, is held offsite from Olympia. Recently, a Hollywood-style script, Janine: Tale of an Abandoned Wife and Mother by Mark Eric Johansen, was released. ARPress’ Movie Script Coverage Service aims to provide a written outline of an author’s book—specifically, a screenplay—that will be stored in a database accessible to major studios seeking stories to adapt into films.
The journey from novel to screenplay involves essential intermediate steps that pave the way for success. One critical step is the transition from coverage, which provides an initial analysis of the source material, to film treatment. This transition is not only a natural progression but also a pivotal moment in the adaptation process.
Once coverage is complete and the decision to proceed with an adaptation is made, the next logical step is creating a film treatment—a detailed document outlining how the source material will be translated into a screenplay. It serves as a bridge between the novel and the final script, providing a roadmap for adaptation. The film treatment is the crucial intermediary step that moves the adaptation from concept to concrete screenplay development.
A screenplay serves as common ground for producers, directors, actors, and the production team, guiding them from start to finish and determining what will be seen on the big screen. The purpose of the Movie Script Coverage Service is to lay the foundation for screenplay production.
Mark E. Johansen is an acclaimed author known for his ability to create deeply moving narratives that explore the complexities of human emotions and real-life struggles. His work often focuses on themes of survival, betrayal, and perseverance, with an emphasis on the extraordinary resilience that emerges from life’s most difficult trials. Johansen’s writing style is immersive and emotionally gripping, drawing readers into the lives of his characters with meticulous detail and raw authenticity.
The novel opens with an idyllic family vacation, setting the stage for what appears to be a happy and fulfilling life for Janine. However, the illusion of stability is quickly shattered when her husband, Brent, announces that he has to leave unexpectedly for a work-related emergency. Reassuring her that everything will be fine, he departs, leaving Janine and their children to enjoy the remainder of their trip. But as days pass without any communication, Janine’s growing unease turns into full-blown panic.
Returning home, she is met with an unthinkable reality—her once-secure life has crumbled. Credit cards are declined, the family home is no longer theirs, and Brent is nowhere to be found. His office has been cleared out, his accounts emptied, and his entire presence erased, as if he had never existed. With no financial means and two children to care for, Janine is forced to navigate a harsh and judgmental world where she must fight for survival while uncovering the truth about her husband’s disappearance.
Central to Janine’s journey is Eric Piersen, a retired carpenter who first serves as her protector and guide. Initially offering shelter and stability, Eric’s role shifts as he develops conflicted feelings for Janine—seeing her both as someone to protect and a woman he is drawn to. As Janine transforms from victim to strategist, Eric becomes her partner in survival and, eventually, in love.
Together, they navigate a dangerous game of deception, power, and moral compromise. This character-driven thriller blends family drama with crime, mystery, and psychological tension. It explores how desperation pushes people to unexpected limits, how resilience emerges in the face of adversity, and how love can be found even in the darkest of times.
