How to Evangelize and the Art of Preaching by Martin Lionel Lubin is the result of his experiences and research in evangelical activities, preaching, and Christian leadership. The positive reception of his 1998 booklet, Techniques of Evangelization, inspired him to publish this new book in 2021.

Author Martin Lionel Lubin is an economist and a graduate in Administration from the State University of Haiti. A devoted member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church since 1969, he has proven to be a fervent student of the Holy Scriptures and a diligent seeker of biblical truth. His research focuses particularly on Bible prophecy and the writings of the Apostle Paul.

Since the 1980s, Lubin has been leading training seminars for his church community at Adventist Temple #1 of Port-au-Prince, where he has served as an Elder since January 1981. His experiences and research were first compiled in his 1998 booklet, Techniques of Evangelization. The enthusiastic reception of this work in Haiti, the United States, and Canada led him to publish How to Evangelize and the Art of Preaching in 2021, following his 2018 essay, Elements of Homiletics.

Preaching and evangelization are the two pillars on which this book is built, forming the very foundation of Christianity. The author takes on the challenge of addressing these two major theological themes in a single volume.

Preaching is an art—an art that can be learned and practiced within the concrete realities of Christian life. To preach effectively, one must engage with homiletics, the theological discipline dedicated to transmitting the Word with power. This book introduces readers to this essential theological reflection.

However, preaching the Word is not solely intended to strengthen and consolidate the faith of believers already initiated into the science of salvation. Its primary aim is to reach non-believers, who often thirst for truth and love—they must be evangelized. Evangelization—the proclamation of the Good News—is a fundamental duty of every Christian.

How to Evangelize and the Art of Preaching highlights techniques for effective evangelization, whether personal or public, emphasizing missionary visits, Bible study, and lay preaching. A series of Bible studies equips readers not only for their personal growth but also to help them share their knowledge with others.

The title of this book, How to Evangelize and the Art of Preaching, reflects two essential concepts of Christian life: evangelization and preaching. These find their foundation and justification in Jesus’ great evangelical commission: “Go, make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19), and in Paul’s exhortation to Timothy: “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching” (2 Timothy 4:2).

This book is intended for everyone, especially young people. It is for those already committed to preaching and evangelization as part of their daily lives, as well as for those who wish to be introduced to this sacred calling.
