A summary of this excellent book has been published in preparation for its movie adaptation. A movie treatment is one of the first steps in writing a screenplay, providing a summary of the screenplay idea and offering the Hollywood-style recognition that only a few authors have experienced.

The book Hope Betrayed: A Stripping of Trust by Charles R. Kuhn tells the story of a man with a debilitating disease and a physician who travel the world in search of treatment, only to be opposed by powerful forces. The story follows their dangerous journey as they navigate corruption, greed, and violence in pursuit of hope.

James Armstrong, diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and an attractive Italian physician embark on a global quest for medical treatment, specifically stem cell applications. Their journey is fraught with danger as they are pursued by those who want to protect their secrets and wealth. James’s motivation is heightened by his daughter’s diagnosis with the same illness, adding urgency to their search for a cure. Despite facing stonewalling and deception, James is determined to overcome the obstacles, even at personal risk.

The book explores themes of corruption within the pharmaceutical industry, the struggle for hope in the face of a debilitating disease, and the battle against powerful adversaries. James and his companion face a “powerful triad” consisting of the pharmaceutical industry, the religious right, and powerful politicians who seek to maintain their power. This cat-and-mouse game culminates in an explosive finale, highlighting the high stakes involved in their quest for truth and a cure.

Charles R. Kuhn’s writing is influenced by his personal experiences and brought to life through his storytelling. Kuhn himself faces a progressive neurological illness, using a wheelchair and typing his manuscripts with one finger. He aims to provoke questions about life’s mysteries and hopes to inspire readers to seek the truth. His background in technical writing in the environmental field has honed his writing skills.

Through James’s journey, we are taken on a roller-coaster ride of emotions, from despair and frustration to hope and triumph. Charles R. Kuhn resides in Nevada and has two young children and a granddaughter. His daughter is the vice principal of an elementary school, and his son is an environmental engineer. Mr. Kuhn has had the privilege of traveling through Southeast Asia for work and to many spots in Europe for pleasure. His writing style is largely based on personal experiences and stories he brings to life in riveting prose.

Mr. Kuhn’s writing skills developed over many years of technical writing in the environmental field. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and a master’s degree from the University of Nevada, Reno. Later in life, he found his voice as a recreational writer after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Today, he manually types his manuscripts with one finger while entrenched in his wheelchair. He writes fiction in adventure, mystery, and science fiction genres, as well as short stories and poems.

He seeks to convey answers to the mysteries we encounter in everyday life. It is his hope that he will make readers question and seek the truth behind life’s surprises. If he succeeds in making even one reader ask why, he considers himself triumphant in pushing us to question beyond the ordinary.
