“Heroes are usually individuals, and singular recognition is given, but another role of myths is to present an image of a collective group. This reputation could be good and positive or interpreted by critics as bad and negative. The images presented in myths are often referred to as stereotypes and caricatures. They could foster unity, patriotism, virtuous behavior, and lofty ideals, or they could promote negativity and be damaging. Stereotypes could heighten one’s image at the expense of another group or be demeaning, exaggerating the worst characteristics of the group?”
