Danny B. Lamont was born in Central New York State and graduated from Trumansburg High School. He joined the U.S. Navy Reserve in 1968, serving in Vietnam after training in Boot Camp and Radarman School. Upon returning, he held various part-time jobs before being accepted into the FBI.

At the FBI, Danny became a Fingerprint Examiner after completing a 13-week course. After 10 years, a friend informed him about a position in the Huntsville Police Department (HPD) in Alabama, where he moved to continue his career in fingerprint analysis.

At HPD, he worked as a Latent Print Examiner and became involved with the International Association of Identification (IAI), enhancing his expertise in fingerprint identification. He developed training syllabi for new technicians, taught police officers how to collect fingerprints at crime scenes, and testified in court cases.
