ARPress is honored to publish Angels at Work (Elementary Version) by Dr. Carolyn Duncan Cecil, D.Min., illustrated by Susan Bradbury. This inspiring book is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the ARPress website. This is more than a children’s book; it’s a lyrical, heartfelt guide that invites readers of all ages to rediscover the comfort, protection, and wonder found in the unseen world of angels. Written in a poetic and engaging voice, Cecil takes us on a journey through biblical stories, scripture references, and vivid imagery to show how angels operate as God’s messengers and protectors.

Life often feels chaotic, whether it’s the stress of school, the uncertainty of travel, or the fear that comes with natural disasters and unexpected challenges. In moments like these, we all long for reassurance that we’re not alone, that someone is watching over us. Angels at Work by Carolyn Cecil offers that very reassurance through a comforting, faith-filled lens. Blending biblical truth with poetic storytelling, the book reminds us that God’s angels are actively at work in our everyday lives, offering protection, guidance, and hope even when we can’t see them. It’s a message that speaks directly to the heart of our real-world worries, and offers peace in the midst of them.

Carolyn Cecil grew up in a small town in America, which instilled in her a strong sense of right and wrong. Life on a small, family-owned Virginia farm nurtured her appreciation for life, food production, and hard work. Her father served in the armed forces and was stationed in many faraway places, which helped Carolyn develop a love of geography, cultures, and people. Raised in the church, she cultivated a strong love for the Lord and the Word of God.

Carolyn holds a Bachelor of Science from Madison College (now James Madison University) in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and a Doctor of Ministry from Kingsbury Bible College. She married, raised two daughters, and taught professionally for nearly four decades. Now in retirement, she writes and teaches on many Christian subjects, including her favorites: the work of the Holy Spirit and Spirit Baptism.

She has authored a complete Christian curriculum titled Equipped: Equipping and Empowerment for Christians and Lay Ministers, as well as numerous children’s books, including Holy Spirit at Work, Angels at Work, Smells to Treasure, Simple Holiday Pleasures, Our Good Earth, and Life on Earth… What a Journey!

With warmth and clarity, the book reminds us that angels are not distant, mythical beings. They are described as active helpers, protecting, guiding, and celebrating the lives of those they’re assigned to. Cecil shares stories from the Bible, like Daniel in the lion’s den or the three men in the fiery furnace, not just to retell history but to anchor us in the reality that divine help still surrounds us today. These aren’t just tales; they’re illustrations of how God sends His angels to intervene in real, tangible ways.

The lesson of Angels at Work is about presence, not just the presence of angels, but the presence of God’s care in everyday life. It’s easy to forget, especially in stressful times, that we are not alone. This book serves as a quiet, beautiful nudge to remember that help is always near, even when we can’t see it.

The real-life application of this message is simple but powerful. Whether we’re traveling, struggling with anxiety, or facing daily uncertainties, the reminder that we are watched over brings peace. It encourages mindfulness in our actions, knowing we’re surrounded by unseen witnesses, and invites us to pray and speak scripture, activating the spiritual help available to us.

Carolyn Cecil’s writing is approachable yet spiritually rich. It’s clear that her heart beats for encouraging children and families in their faith, and her passion shines through every page. The tone is comforting, the content is biblically grounded, and the message is timeless: you are deeply loved, and heaven is cheering you on.

In a world full of noise and fear, Angels at Work offers a calming counter-message, one of divine protection, purpose, and constant presence. Whether read aloud to a child or quietly pondered as an adult, it brings a gentle reassurance that we are never out of reach from God’s love or His angels.
