Media coverage has long been one of the most effective marketing tools for announcing a new book in the literary world, complementing conventional approaches. Press releases are commonly used to spread the news, helping to foster media attention. Essentially, a press release is a key tool for reaching target audiences and increasing awareness.

The article circulating in the digital world highlights several benefits of media engagement: (1) engaging the media, (2) building relationships, (3) increasing customer engagement, (4) establishing credibility, and (5) becoming the new face of public relations. In this way, readers can learn about both the book’s message and the author behind it.

Have You Seen My Daddy? is not just a question, it’s a call to action. Through Pastor Peyton’s life, readers are challenged to be present, accountable, and transformed. It’s a reminder that healing begins when someone dares to listen, love, and lead. For anyone seeking hope in the aftermath of brokenness (or even in the midst of it), this book offers both truth and tenderness.

About the Book:

Have You Seen My Daddy? is Pastor John’s detailed life story, beginning with his birth and childhood in Virginia to a strong Christian mother and an abusive, lost father. As he grew up, he witnessed hypocrisy in his home church and racism from others, leading him to question whether the Jesus he heard about was truly worthy of praise and worship.

He was later drafted into the army and sent to Central America, all while grappling with a growing hatred toward white people, hatred that intensified through his involvement with the Black Panther Party. It wasn’t until the most unlikely of people shared the message of God’s love and Jesus’s sacrifice that Pastor John’s life began to change. Shortly after, he was sent to Vietnam.

As Pastor John moved forward in life, becoming a husband and father to three daughters, he felt God leading him down paths where his testimony, about how God took away his hate and gave him peace, began to impact the lives of others.

As an agent of reconciliation for God, Pastor John has been a vessel for change in many lives, from those in prison to people of influence from various races and backgrounds. The hope is that readers will understand, through his story, the deep need for God in our lives, and that lasting change can only happen through Jesus.

About the Author:

Pastor John Roger Peyton was born in 1946 and raised on Bethel Avenue near Rip Rap Road in Hampton, Virginia. Growing up in a tight-knit, predominantly African American community, John experienced a childhood shaped by modest means, strong family bonds, and a deep-rooted sense of responsibility. In a home warmed by coal and wood-burning stoves, he learned the value of hard work early, collecting coal from nearby railroad tracks, helping neighbors, and contributing financially to his household.

John was one of five children and came from a family that also embraced foster care. His mother’s compassion was evident in the many children she helped raise, one of whom was later discovered to be her own grandson. Despite the hardship and instability caused by his father’s alcoholism and violence, John found solace and purpose through work and community support.

By age twelve, he was selling magazines, cleaning homes, and salvaging scrap materials to help support his family. Known for his cheerful disposition, singing and whistling while he worked, he earned extra tips and the affection of his community. His entrepreneurial spirit emerged early, particularly through his window-cleaning business, where he gained the trust of local residents, including the town mayor and business owners.

John’s story reflects resilience, community pride, and an early drive toward entrepreneurship. His experiences offer a glimpse into the strength and dignity of a generation that thrived in the face of adversity while helping to build a self-sustaining and vibrant Black community.
