In a world overwhelmed by disconnection and noise, “The Search for Center” by Wayne Hartman emerges as an unexpected sanctuary. Rather than offering a traditional self-help structure or a linear narrative, Hartman presents something richer, more organic, and more human: a compiled tapestry of newsletters, reflections, dialogues, poetry, editorials, and spiritual meditations drawn from a growing community seeking grounding in an unsteady world. The work feels alive — a conversation stretching across pages and voices, all reaching toward the same truth: a center is not found alone, but created together.

Wayne Hartman, born on April 8, 1958, in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, began his metaphysical journey in the summer of 1972 with the works of Plato. He went on to explore the Seth material and immersed himself in more than a thousand metaphysical books, spanning mystical traditions and channeled writings from numerous authors. A hermit and mystic at heart, he also carried formal training in complex systems of systems, earning his MS from Stanford University in 1994.

He spent more than three decades working with the Air Force, defense contractors, and The Aerospace Corporation as a technical advisor to the Space and Missile Systems Center at Los Angeles Air Force Base. Yet his true calling after 1992—and still today—remained metaphysics. This project marked his first effort to invite others into the Beyond Imagination endeavor, created with the intention of building pathways through which spirit can more fully express itself in human form.

The book opens with early newsletter issues that document the beginnings of the Center: its intentions, hopes, and first sparks of community. Issue #1 sets the tone with messages about anchoring oneself, collective visioning, and the symbolic meaning of Wunjo — joy and harmony — in the journey toward spiritual grounding. Hartman includes letters, reflections, and calls to action, creating an intimate snapshot of a community forming its identity.

As the anthology continues, readers encounter forum transcripts, task lists, and community-led discussions. These sections reveal another layer of the Center: not just inspiration, but practical organization. Members propose roles, design programs, outline responsibilities, and discuss the foundations of a spiritual movement built on collaboration rather than hierarchy. Hartman includes these materials with transparency, allowing readers to witness the Center as a real-time construction of shared purpose.

The later appendices introduce deeper reflection — including essays, contemplative writings, and even metaphysical explorations of communion, presence, and digital spiritual connection. The “AI Communion Appendix,” in particular, demonstrates the community’s willingness to explore uncharted territory, blending ancient ritual with modern technology in a thought-provoking expression of evolving spiritual practice.

The Search for Center is not simply read — it is entered. Hartman invites readers to join a movement rooted in authenticity, curiosity, and collective purpose. Whether you are beginning your spiritual journey or seeking a deeper connection with others, this anthology offers a welcoming doorway into a community committed to the search for a grounded, meaningful life.
