The new site offers readers biographical information about the author, insights into his writing journey, and details on how and where to purchase his books.
Michael Steven Purles has dedicated much of his life to helping others grow, both professionally and spiritually. Throughout his career, he has served as a business manager, a business skills trainer, and an author. His writing reflects two intertwined paths: one rooted in professional development, the other in personal faith and life experience.
Across his works, readers will recognize a consistent focus on finding strength amid life’s burdens and on deepening one’s relationship with Jesus Christ. At the heart of his message lies the call to become true disciples: to live with faith, compassion, and purpose.
Michael and his wife, Jerry, have been married for more than 50 years. They are the parents of four children. Their eldest, Tracy, was born with congenital heart disease and lived to be 20. Their second child, a son, was also born with congenital heart disease but survived thanks to advances in medical science. In recent years, Michael’s devotion has taken on new depth as he became not only a husband but also a caregiver, following his wife’s stroke three years ago.
These profound life experiences, of love, faith, loss, and perseverance, shine through in his writing, infusing his books with warmth, hope, and eternal perspective.

Purles’s books: Called to Discipleship: Turning to Christ with Full Purpose of Heart, Becometh as a Child: The Spiritual Awakening of God’s Children, and Turtletoes: Following the Steps of an Angel, were featured at the 2025 Frankfurt Book Fair (Frankfurter Buchmesse).
This year’s fair pulsed with creativity and connection. From the Philippines’ showcase as Guest of Honour to expanded public programming that spanned comics, film, and global publishing, the atmosphere was one of innovation meeting tradition. It was a fitting stage for Purles’s works, which bridge the timeless truths of faith with contemporary relevance.
Called to Discipleship: Turning to Christ with Full Purpose of Heart
In this inspiring work, Purles draws from the moment in the Gospels when Christ asks Peter, “Do you love me?” and turns it into a deeply personal invitation. The book encourages readers not only to reflect on Peter’s story but to live it—to turn fully to Christ with a sincere and devoted heart. Blending biblical reflection with practical application, Purles reminds us that love and discipleship are inseparable and that faith is an ongoing, heartfelt turning toward the Savior.
Becometh as a Child: The Spiritual Awakening of God’s Children
This book offers a gentle yet profound exploration of what it means to become “as a little child.” Purles writes with warmth and authenticity, sharing how humility, openness, and childlike faith can awaken the soul. His conversational style makes the book feel like a heartfelt conversation over coffee: encouraging, honest, and deeply relatable. It’s a book for anyone seeking to rekindle spiritual simplicity in an often complicated world.
Turtletoes: Following the Steps of an Angel
A deeply moving memoir, Turtletoes tells the story of Tracy Purles, Michael’s daughter, who was born with congenital heart disease and an intellectual disability. Through her life and passing, Michael found profound spiritual lessons about love, acceptance, and divine purpose. The book is both a tribute to Tracy’s light and a testament to the transformative power of faith within families facing hardship.
