“First of all, working is a condition Sine qua non demanding by God for every Nation. We all know that Happy workers are more likely to stay with the industry, take good care of customers and do what their Patron needs sometimes it may feel like developing engaged employees is impossible. However, Satisfied workers don’t have to be mythical creatures, sighted as frequently as unicorns in the forest. With care and hard work, we can create a work-place environment that support worker happiness. And, it may not be as difficult as we think. The key is for us to recognize the difference between being a manager and being a Leader. The Role of the Manager is to plan, organize, assign, and follow up. What about the Leader himself?”

The book “The Leader and His or Her Performance” by Dr. Raymond Saintil explores the qualities, responsibilities, and effectiveness of leadership in various contexts. It delves into the attributes that define successful leaders and examines how they can maximize their performance through strategic decision-making, emotional intelligence, and ethical conduct. Dr. Saintil emphasizes the importance of self-awareness, adaptability, and communication in leadership while addressing challenges that leaders often face. The book provides practical insights and guidance for both aspiring and seasoned leaders aiming to enhance their impact and effectiveness.
The book presents a detailed exploration of leadership qualities and how they influence effectiveness. Dr. Saintil frames leadership as an ongoing performance rather than a fixed trait. He argues that leadership effectiveness is determined by a leader’s ability to continuously refine their skills, make ethical decisions, and adapt to changing circumstances.
The book highlights key qualities of effective leadership, including: (1) a leader must understand their strengths and weaknesses (2) effective leaders inspire and guide others through clear messaging, (3) managing emotions and understanding others is crucial for leadership success, and (4) leaders must make strategic choices that benefit both the organization and its people.
A major theme in the book is ethical responsibility. Dr. Saintil emphasizes that good leadership is not just about achieving results but also about maintaining integrity, honesty, and fairness. He discusses how unethical leaders may achieve short-term success but ultimately fail due to a lack of trust and credibility. The book also acknowledges that leadership comes with obstacles, such as conflicts, resistance to change, and personal doubts. Dr. Saintil provides strategies for overcoming these challenges, including staying resilient in tough situations, encouraging teamwork and collaboration, and learning from mistakes rather than fearing failure.
Rather than offering only theoretical insights, “The Leader and His or Her Performance” provides actionable advice that readers can apply in their leadership roles. It serves as a guide for both emerging and experienced leaders to refine their approach and continuously improve their performance.
The book is a compelling examination of what makes a great leader. Dr. Saintil successfully bridges leadership theory with practical application, making it valuable for anyone looking to enhance their leadership skills.
