In her excitement to see the red-blue blinding
flash of light that suddenly shocked the early evening sky,
the small blond girl went sliding in the wet earth near the
corner of her home located near the water tower on Quincy Hill,
Hancock Michigan. Stumbling, she fell and made a three-point
landing on one knee and the palms of two outstretched hands.
As swiftly as the night-fright disappeared, she felt the
earth tremble beneath her feet and saw a tower of water suddenly
rise to what appeared to be some hundreds of feet high.
Then the jury foreman stood.”We don’t need deliberation.”
The judge blinked. “…You don’t?” “No. We’re ready.”
The Verdict “Guilty on all counts.” The courtroom erupted.
Dorothy cheered. Ron cried. Hap Kivela fainted.
Martha Joensuu hugged the Quiet One. Langford and Drake packed
their bags in record time. Judge Halvorson banged his gavel.
“Order! Order! And one more thing…” He turned to the Quiet One.
“You ever consider running for prosecutor?”
The Quiet One (from outer space) paused. “I will consider it.” Clifton Brusso
