Notable participants in the 2025 festival included authors such as Stacey Abrams, Jon M. Chu, Amanda Gorman, Chelsea Handler, Ibram X. Kendi, and Rebecca Yarros, among many others. The festival’s success was also attributed to the generous involvement of volunteers who assisted with various aspects of the event, including welcoming attendees, staffing author events, and supervising book signings.

The festival’s partnership with the Department of Cultural Affairs ensured that a wide range of activities were available to attendees of all ages and backgrounds, fostering a welcoming environment for literary enthusiasts and families alike.

With its diverse programming and commitment to accessibility, the festival continues to be a premier event for book lovers and cultural aficionados. The success of this year’s event sets a promising precedent for future festivals, ensuring that the tradition of literary celebration will continue to thrive in Los Angeles.
LATFOB 2025 provides a unique opportunity to explore new voices, groundbreaking ideas, and thought-provoking works of art. This year, one of the most anticipated entries is “Forever, and A Day” by Brenda King Kelly, which is being showcased in the Book Gallery.
Brenda King Kelly is a Golden Soror of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and a natural-born wordsmith. She is a retired educator from Florida who currently resides in Atlanta and has a passion for traveling and writing. A few years ago, Brenda developed her passion for reading and writing fiction into a business, thus editing many articles and manuscripts for publishing. Recently, she published a Christian fictional drama about overcoming family conflicts, which is available across multiple platforms digitally and as a paperback. “Forever, and A Day” is fictional but possibly contains themes with similarities to life events that impact our lives as Christians.
“Forever, and A Day” is about emotionally motivated changes that we process to lead to a new understanding of trust, belief, and faith, as well as the acceptance of individual thoughts and opinions.
Elzadie Cavalier is a dynamic character whose wrongdoings, lies, and deceptions have strained the relationships with her family, friends, and colleagues. Due to her narcissistic and antagonistic personality disorders, she self-sabotages peaceful situations and claims that God has not forgiven her for the trauma from her past. After years of self-torment and a frightening experience, Elzadie accepts responsibility for her heartbreaking decisions, forgives herself, and seeks help to find a life of peace.
If people knew Elzadie and Elijah’s back story, they would not pass judgment or condemn them, even though Elzadie kept. Whether he was from the other side of the track or behind the barbed wire, he was innocent of the misdemeanor that confined him to prison, but guilty of the crimes that extended his sentence. Issues of abandonment caused by the previous generations constantly impacted his happiness, yet he was grateful to begin a life that he dared to imagine. From a malnourished juvenile delinquent in need of love to a Godly jailbird, he overcame undue trials and tribulations that tested his faith. Many tried to help him, but only one successfully won his heart.
Forever, and a Day is a testimony of Elijah’s faith in the promises of God. Despite his personal pain, he still believed that God would restore his life. His testimony began when he met people like him, including Elzadie Cavalier, struggling and suffering from generational trauma. Little do they know that there is an alternative to their desire to be happy and at peace with one another. Letting go of the past took forever for some, but only a day for one of them. Furthermore, this book covers a plethora of themes that impact our lives as Christians.
