Dexter Satterwhite
I am a retired instructor of history and government classes at Angelina College in Lufkin, Texas, my hometown. I graduated from Lufkin High School in 1968 and enrolled at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas the fall of that year. I graduated from the university in the spring of 1972. I met my wife Mary while in college and we married in July 1972. We have been happily married for forty-eight years. My wife is a retired Language Arts teacher at Lufkin Middle School. I have lived in Lufkin all my life. I worked in my family’s business for thirty years. When it became apparent that a career change was necessary, I enrolled in graduate school at Stephen F. Austin State University in the fall of 1998 to study history. I received a Master of Arts Degree in History in the late summer of 2000 and began to teach at Angelina College that fall. I later took eighteen graduate hours in Political Science. I have been on the faculty of Angelina College since 2005 until my recent retirement. I have one son who is a graduate of Texas A&M University. He currently resides in San Antonio, Texas.
